Ersson and Fedotov are locks to start. If they suck they are not locks to keep their jobs. Briere has also been quoted in saying if players play well and should make the team, he would make room for them. If Kolosov comes over and playes well and the other two are not, they will give him a shot.
What went on with Gauthier? He's said nothing aside from it was a combination of things and dont give me this bull about him wanting to sign immediately. A player would leverage something like that to get a deal, not just demand a trade and ghost the team without a second thought. He didnt even sign with ANH after the trade. He signed at the end of the season and played 1 game at the end of the season. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Seriously? Why would a player playing NCAA hockey in the middle of the season once traded. Immediately sign and give up his NCAA eligibility? Why did he play the 1 game at the end of the NHL season? More importantly, why did Anaheim agree to that? Because they're competent and the Flyers are not. We don't need Gauthier to tell us anything. He was completely willing to sign and play for the Flyers in March of 23. Then in May of 23, was no longer willing to play for the Flyers. What changed between those two periods? It's not hard to figure out. You don't seem to understand the situation.

Not high level but they were some of the best FAs of their FA years. Dont forget JVR was also coming off a career high 36 goal season when Hexy signed him. If Fletcher had more space, he would have thrown money at others. Gaudreau most likely would have been a Flyer if we had the space. Fletcher did recognize we needed to get younger and rebuild but he didnt really have any sort of plan. He had one foot in the rebuild pool and one foot into the contend pools. There was no clear direction - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Fletcher did not recognize that the Flyers had to get younger and rebuild. He immediately started wheeling and dealing and made horrendous trades with one exception. Not by trading vets for future assets but by making deals to create cap space and trading to try and win. What are you talking about?

Waaaa...waaaa...waaa...no one wants to play in Philly. For one thing, no one knows if the Laine story is true cause I have yet to see a REAL source revealed and even if it is true, who cares? Laine isn't a winner and never will be. Leon for 14 mil a year? So what are they gonna have to pay McJesus? They also have to reup Bouchard in the near future. Yikes! Good thing the cap will prolly be over 100 million in a couple of years. - Phillywhiteout
I have no problem with veterans who don’t want to play in Philly: why would they? Flyers are not a winning organization right now. Also, who wants Laine anyway? What has he done lately? He’s had more “off years” than good years now.
Start winning. Actually become the so-called gold standard. Have salary cap available. Then magically, veteran pkayers will want to come to the Flyers. |

Here's my call for Gauthier's first game in Philly. He will have a hat trick along with 2 assists, and he will beat up Drysdale in a fight that they have in the 3rd period. There, now do I fit in here with all the positive takes? |

It's not hard to figure out, true, but that does not mean Gauthier was right or that the Flyers are incompetent. The thing you never mention is Fletcher got fired on March 10th and Gauthier's first college season ended March 11th. Briere was in no position to do anything at this point. |

Spoken like a true Flyers fan, except if you really want to have a jaded perspective, Drysdale won't get beat up becasue he will be injured and on the shelf. |

I think Fletcher's biggest mistake, and this is by his own admission, is he chased that top pairing RHS defenseman once Niskanen unexpectedly retired after the bubble season. First with the Risto trade and then the DeAngelo trade. His second biggest mistake is he would not accept that in Giroux's last year his plan had failed and he needed to blow it up. He doubled down by extending Risto and then trading for DeAngelo in that off season, as well as failing to recognize AV had lost the room in the prior season. |

lmao elite talent rarely becomes available so we're just going to surround michkov with scrubs? - 2Real
I would prefer the Flyers draft elite talent to grow with Michkov. By the time Michkov hit's his prime Konecny will be in his mid 30s. Konecny being on the team makes the likelyhood of the Flyers drafting elite talent less likely.
The goal is to make the playoffs this year. Period. The rest is all window dressing.

The far more disturbing part of this is not that Laine didn't want to play for the Flyers. It's that the Flyers wanted to trade for Laine. That is terrifying.

Whether Gauthier was wrong or right is irrelevant. He was within his rights. The Flyers were completely incompetent. Briere was named interim GM on March 10th. He was in complete position to act.

Is this an admission that you were completely wrong about Ristolainen? Fletcher made one good move as the GM of the Flyers. Trading for Niskanen. Otherwise a complete disaster. |

Here is the sad part of it all. Very realistically, right now the Flyers could be sitting with a potential future core of Gauthier, Michkov and Buium. As well as high level future assets gained from a trade of Konecny. They could be right there up at the top with rebuilding teams such as Chicago, Anaheim and SJ. Man, this franchise is a complete (frank) up.

that is a total crock of schitt. He was chucks right hand man. he knew what was going on. as soon as he was named GM his first order of business should have been to get cutter signed.
it was a very simple to do. he botched it. |

- nothing wrong with the braun move at all.
- the clode trade was good.
- Getting a pick for Patrick Brown was solid
- york and an extra pick was solid.
- raffle for a 5th
- brassard for a 3rd
- zac mac for a 5th |

An approval from Tortorella is worthless. We've seen a number of times where once the player is on board, Tortorella has issues after giving approval. It's looking more and more like this rumor is true and if so, it's a sign of an extremely dysfunctional front office. - MJL
Well, that was kinda my point with Gurianov.
