oh I agree, 100%, but from a marketing perspective the names and logos become very important, especially for a new league that wants to establish itself and have sustained growth.
three of the logos are basically just a letter, and the Toronto one looks like a weird illuminati cult symbol... to each his own but I find they're rather poopty. oh well. - Pat1993
Ottawa kinda looks like the flames logo, if it was running fast.

I also thought the same thing, they even have a very similar color scheme.
and I think for the New York one it's supposed to be a building formed by the letters "NY" behind the team name, but it's just poor graphic design, looks like clipart or some poop. |

Looks like a corset trying to squeeze a body....
I get it is hard to be original / unique with so many teams in various sports, but I think these are low level quality as well. IF these were the best of the bunch, I wonder what others were considered? And I feel like the league did a good job last year, given the rush to put everything together.
But good will can only last so long... perhaps they are focusing resources on other things behind the scenes (better buildings, ticket sales, etc..). I dunno.
Maybe the strategy is to change designs every few years in the hope of selling more jerseys / stuff.

I dunno man, that doesn't sound like a very smart strategy.
heck, there are habs fans complaining about Caufield changing his number in honor of Gaudreau, because they feel they now have to buy a new jersey with the number 13, can't imagine the fanbase of any sports team being happy with constant changes like that. |

I get CC's good intention on the number change, but that was my first immediate reaction as well.
At the very least, the Habs should have some kind of promotion where people who come in to swap jersey numbers, some of that revenue goes to an appropriate charity or the like (or a small discount).
Make it less painful to swallow.

meh, I kinda get it but at the same time, 22 will still remain his first rookie number with the habs, so it isn't like that jersey instantly became totally irrelevant.
but yeah, I agree with the charity/discount idea, it isn't like the habs organization wasn't rich enough to pull it off. |

la "Victoire de Montréal"...?
hey c'est du gros brainstorming pour un nom d'équipe ça
- Pat1993
Not a great name.
Pretty good logo though. I like the M, the colour scheme, and the fact that it kind of manages to tie in with both the Habs and the Alouettes identities a bit.

agreed, MTL looks like the only team that didn't take the very first concept that was presented to them and actually put some thought/effort into it for the logo. too bad they didn't do the same for the team name.

I've heard the league hired some kind of firm from New-York to come up with the logos and names...?

When William Nylander changed his number after signing his first big contract, I think he said he would pay for every fan that bought his jersey and wanted to have his new number. Which was a very cool move for a stupid Maple Leafs player.

The team's official shop can do it quite easily. Just like how they can change the name on it if you suddently hate your Drouin jersey and want a Laine one.

interesting, I wasn't aware it could be done that easily, I thought with the embroidery it would leave marks on the jersey or something.
