I was under the impression that he filed the appeal already. Does anyone know if he has or hasn't? - Flyers_01 Quite frankly, I've lost interest. Like, who cares at this point? He's never gonna play for the Flyers and ultimately there will prolly be a hush hush settlement behind the scenes.

No idea as haven't seen anything about it.
My guess is maybe he drags it out and waits until close to the 60. Meanwhile they negotiate a settlement. |

My feeling is the only reason the Flyers are doing this is because they need the money to make a move to sign/trade someone, otherwise, why bother? If true, it will affect the team if they win.

Something between 50-67% of the remaining contract makes sense.

Him drawing out surgery stops the Flyers from sending him to the minors to save cap, buying him out to save cap or trading him to save cap. RyJo gets paid in full if he draws this out for surgery. He also does not want to go to the minors.
In the end, I do not think the Flyers have a specific plan for the cap space at the moment. I would not be surprised to see them spend it as soon as they get it though on a piece for "now".

I hope he doesn't settle and takes it the distance. I want to see what the flyers issue was with him. either way the optics do not look good for the flyers once again. |

In the Flyers world, the sky is falling and has been for a long time. You just don't realize it.

Well you can't put Coots there, he's one more crosscheck to the back from RyJo/Ellis status. - Flyers_01
Couturier is going to take cross checks whether he plays net front or not.

There are other cap reasons besides that. With Michkov on board, it can also affect bonus overages the following season.

The Flyers would essentially save more cap space on the cap by placing him on LTIR than sending him to the minors. Same with buying him out.

the flyers get zero nada none no benefit of the doubt.
they should have just let him rot on long term injured list. no long term good comes out of what they are trying to accomplish. it looks bad. dems the facts. |

In the Flyers world, the sky is falling and has been for a long time. You just don't realize it. - MJL I already predicted that Cutter is gonna have a hat trick and 2 assists in his first game in Philly, and I even added an extra bonus that he would beat up Drysdale in the 3rd period of the game. Doesn't that count for something? Just trying to fit into the negative Nancy crew on here.

Couturier is going to take cross checks whether he plays net front or not. - MJL The Flyers need to petition the league to allow the Flyers to give Coots the no contact jersey in actual games. Probably his only chance of staying healthy at this point. |

Your comments are illogical. - MJL How bout this for some logic? The Flyers catch lightning in a bottle and win the Cup in 3 years. It all just comes together and the years of suffering have mercilessly ended! The Flyers are parading the Cup down Broad St. (hopefully no other Philly team beats them to it), and you and your buddy are on here talking about how lucky the Flyers were, and that they should have done it the right way and tanked!!! Thanks! |

Agreed. But if they were able to send him down or buy him out they would not need to use LTIR.

Buying him out would be colossally stupid but then again, this is the Flyers. The termination is about more than not being able to demote him to the minors or to buy him out. |
