Did you or did you not have the Flyers penciled into a playoff spot before they crashed and burned at the end. My brain is on layaway... should have a new one by next week. Sorry bout that.
- Phillywhiteout
I posted with about 10 games left in the season that I thought the Flyers were going to make the playoffs. What does that have to do with today's conversation?

I guess you were one of those fans that ate it up until their late season collapse. This is revisionist history on your part.

You're such an embarrassment. My opinion on the Flyers is well documented. My opinion on Tortorella is well doumented.

You ate it up and then when things went south you switched sides and started laughing at the Flyguys. Not cool! It's out there for all to see. Where is Myers playing these days? |

Good for him. A cheap sport and an easy sport to play. I mean, if you can't play basketball you might as well take up Chess. - Phillywhiteout
Hey!
I played hockey and chess.
You leave chess alone. I still love the game. I’m not playing cash games anymore, but I still often have a set in the car. I play at a bar now and then, or with my kid at a high top over a bite, just like my pop did with me. |

Will be interesting to see how things go with Torts this year. It's his third year and this is when players may start tuning him out. If Michkov doesn't like him the players may ride with the new kid in town. It's just Torts...his bag skates and yelling eventually wears on everyone. - Phillywhiteout
I think Torts adjusts his approach with a group of players as he spends more seasons with them. Otherwise he would never last more than two season with a team, which is about the league average. Torts has averaged about 5 seasons with a team which is really good, so be must do something right. Thus, I expect things to be calmer this year. I also would not be surprised if Jones and Briere have had conversations with Torts behind closed doors about his approach with Michkov. Nothing wrong with demanding responsible play defensively, but he has got to give this kid more rope, as Torts has done with TK. |

Tortorella hasn't adjusted his approach in over 20 years.

Do you know what a player development coach does? I haven't seen many complaints about player development coaches on the Flyers.

Lol. I have a friend whose kid played hockey until middle school. The guy isn’t hurting but still encouraged his kid to switch over to basketball. The kid now plays basketball. - Minnyhock
The kid should dictate what sport they play. My kiddoes play soccer which I do not love but they do.

they do? most organization will tell you to pound sand unless your kid is very good.
how is say golf going to help a family? |

Jakub Zboril PTO with the Devils, wouldn't have minded the flyers taking a look to see if shaw would be able to salvage something. Has show some flashes in the past be being a capable dman.
Though no room at the inn to give a look. |

I do not know what the policy is for every team and sport. Most leagues have used equipment to help defer the cost of playing. Teams allow payment plans and other deferred payment options also.
Of course this is not true everywhere. Most teams I have encountered offer these options.

I should have clarified talking hockey. Yes, payment plans though that isn't reducing the total cost as at the end of the day you are still paying full freight. You don't pay by the end of the year or a certain date they will not allow you to play the following season or finish that season.
sports have become such a racket and money-making machine. |

They didn't hire a former player whose main qualification is getting a puck to the face to coach their AHL team.

Look at the way Torts deals with TK. Do you think 20 years ago he would have treated a player like TK the same way? |
