How many starters played in the PS? Talking heads talk about 'reps' - well if you get no reps in game conditions - how is one to perform - corduroy
Obviously Howie had no issues with starters not playing |

The order of the moves is irrelevant to the premise. Bobrovsky was moved because of bringing in Bryzgalov. That caused Bobrovsky wanting to get traded. They absolutely pushed Bobrovsky aside to bring in Bryzgalov. The Flyers caused the issue. - MJL
It is relevant. Bryz was brought in because of the 3 goalie carousel in the playoffs. Bryz was only with the team for 2 seasons. The Flyers did not want to move Bob. If he had sucked it up for 1 more season, He would have been the defacto #1 Goalie after the Bryz compliance buyout. It is 100% relevant that Bob demanded a trade. Bryz was struggling while Bob was on the team. There was no reason for Bob to think he couldnt get that spot. There were already glaring issues like how Bryz was benched for the Winter Classic in favour of Bob if I remember correctly |

Yes Bob was young but I don’t remember Bob looking incredible as a Flyer. I remember Bob taking a playoff loss hard, instead of sucking it and moving forward. I remember Bryz getting pushed aside so Bob could start the Winter Classic. I don’t blame the Flyers. I didn’t see a future hall of famer. I saw a young, undrafted kid, who should have understudied under a fellow countryman until he proved he was ready. There was plenty of room for Bryz and Bob. - roenick97
Bob was like Mason and Hart. We saw flashes but was inconsistent. That being said the defense was trash. Flyers squandared a lot of assets trying to replace Pronger. |

Eagles D sucks - WhiskeyMan
Eh, they were missing a starting CB, playing another rookie CB, everyone was slipping on the field, and didn't see many reps in the preseason playing against a top 10 passing defense. All in all, especially considering they forced GB to fg 2x when the eagles turned it over around their own 20 twice early on, I think it was encouraging.
There won't be many, if any, defensive masterpieces in weeks 1 & 2 with how teams treat the preseason. Maybe whoever plays the Pats or CAR.
Hell of a game that went down to the wire. |

The 9 year contract comes to mind. It was unprecedented when the Flyers bought out the last 7 years of Bryz's contract and up until the end, the Flyers/Laviolette kept telling everyone that Bryz was the starting goalie. The Flyers were very invested in Bryz and without the opportunity of the one time compliance buyout which shielded them from cap implications he would've remained a Flyer longer.
https://www.inquirer.com/...ov_still_No_1_goalie.html
Though Sergei Bobrovsky has played like the Flyers' top goalie, coach Peter Laviolette made it clear that Ilya Bryzgalov is still his No. 1.
"I don't use numbers - you know that," Laviolette said when asked who his No. 1 was after Monday's practice in Voorhees. "Now Bryz has gotten a majority of the starts. I don't know if that answers your question or not. . . . Bryz was brought here to be a horse, and he's received a majority of the games. I don't see that changing."

Still not a huge deal in my opinion. Coaches change in the NHL like people change their underwear. His tenure wasnt much longer than Bryz's Believe he was fired a year after. Coaches often say stuff like that to avoid goalie controversies. Even Bryz's leash with Laviollette would eventually run out |

It's not relevant at all. The order is which things were done is trivial. The Flyers actions caused the trade and they moved on from a future hall of Fame goalie. For the same reasons that they make most of their mistakes. Impatience and the thirst to try and win every single year. Obviously Bobrovsky had reasons in his mind. |

You were corrected and shown that you were wrong in saying that there was no reason for Bobrovsky to think he wouldn't get the spot. You used hindsight and facts that were not known at the time of Bobrovsky wanting out.

Did I miss that Davis was injured? No stats for him. - WhiskeyMan
He played. Well in the beginning, poorly later. But there are enormous concerns about the line overall. Hardly any pass rush, and gaping holes right up the gut.
Jalen Carter is enormously talented but mentally takes off plays. Prefers going downhill after QB to staying in his position covering his gaps.
Nice to see a cowbell back like 26. 24 carries for an Eagles back! The 2-3 yard tough runs early on that wears teams down. Not just hiding behind OL looking for a hole like many successful recent backs we have had. And then able to line up wide too.
All in all, impressive first game for Mitchell. Up and down games for Nakobe and Baun. The down is they have real trouble shedding blocks. Terrible game for Gardner. Huff was noticeable in applying pressures but never beat his man.
Early yet, but so far, big issues for D. If the Kansas City D is the standard, Eagles were not even in the same continent. |

Not that i recall, it looks like he played 52% of the defensive snaps. I thought that, unlike the Packers, the Eagles emerged relatively healthy. There's plenty to clean up after a sloppy game and it will help having the extra days off.

It's only one game in a foreign environment on a bad field. Lots of sloppiness and areas of concern. The biggest is Jalen Hurts. It's a QB league. You won't be a SB team with Hurts playing at that level and the numerous poor decisions he made.

he's so good he couldn't score in the 1st quarter with the amazing field position? Hurts still beat him in the end |

Couple of forced passes that can’t or shouldn’t happen. But that GB team is a very strong team. You go from practice right into a 1rst game of the season. That can’t be easy.
But offensive talent won out. Sloppy, sloppy game but there are things to build on for sure. I hope they bring in some pass rush help…I hear the Jets have a guy holding out…maybe he’s available? |

It has something to do with many parish members being close to the Gaudreau family. |
