Hockey IQ is not exposed over time. He played 180 games at the professional level with nothing but praise for his play. With zero talk about any lack of a hockey IQ. A player with poor hockey IQ will be exposed long before that in that sample of games. It simply didn't exist. You don't catch poor hockey IQ like a virus. You are wrong. I explained to you why that time frame matters. You can't understand it.

Why isn’t Myers in the NHL, in your opinion?

Again, this is where living in the world of stats fails you. Watch the games and learn!! I mean, the stats say that Frost delivered more hits than TK this past season. No one in their right mind would come to that conclusion. There are hits where you just kind of rub a guy out and there are impactful hits. There is a big difference. I didn't think Myers delivered enough IMPACTFUL hits for a guy his size. Thanks!
- Phillywhiteout

No, the stats don't say that Frost delivered more hits than Konecny did. LOL

Now it's impactful hits. LMAO

You're again making a fool of yourself. You can't logically win the debate, so you've now moved onto this nonsense. I'm actually at fault here for even engaging with your stupidity.
- MJL
Dude, no one is making a fool of themselves. It's just the same old rhetoric with you. The fact is that you don't know how to have an adult conversation when you are trapped in a corner. Again, just a matter of simple logistics which is the world that I live in (along with most mortals).

Hit stats are dumb in general. In some arenas they give you a hit when you breathe on someone and in other arenas you practically have to assault the guy to get a hit registered. It's really a dumb stat for that reason. Thanks again. Bottom line, Myers wasn't that physical for his size and TK is way more physical that Frost. Someone posted some stat that Frost had more hits per something or other than TK. Don't remember who it was.

Actually if we look at the conversation, it is clearly you that doesn't know how to have an adult conversation, which is an intelligent one. You brought up Myers like a child, who was not in any way relevant to the Flyers current situation. You then proceeded to talk more nonsense, showing your lack of a grasp of the facts. Making up crap like IMPACTFUL hits. LOL. Accused me of only looking at the stats when at that point, I hadn't mentioned a single stat. And even brought up the ole "watch the game" into it. As always, you're a simpleton.

Bottom line is that you haven't brought any credible facts to the table. Bottom line is that you don't have a grasp of the facts. Physicality was also not Myers issue. Konecny out hit Frost both by rate and by count. If you need that explained to you, I can.

Actually the reality is that I have answered that question numerous times over the years whenever that subject has been brought up. So to say that I can't or that I have nothing, is simply not accurate.

Another sign that you are going down with the ship. You are now resorting to name calling and I am deeply hurt. I simply brought up Myers cause you were hounding JD (as always) about being wrong about Risto. It was a counter balance kinda thing. You dig? I mean, Risto and Myers have both been discussed on here at nauseum, so who cares.

Okay, so basically everyone agrees that Myers has the physical tools to be an NHL player. So, why isn't he in the NHL? It's a simple question.

So you say you aren't gonna bother with the comments about Myers and then you bother to comment. Good job! And no, I didn't like his game. I didn't think he was physical enough for a guy his size and he looked lost on the ice at times. I didn't hate his game, but he lacked something for sure.

I love how you’re constantly trying to prove you’re the smartest man in the room. Always compensating for a lack of intelligence.

Do you see me engaging in this long dragged out stupid conversation you two have going? It’s been beaten to death and here you are bringing it up again.

Yeah, I'm the one that acts like I am the smartest man in the room? Are you serial? I believe there are many others on here that I would have to surpass for that distinction. No one asked you to engage. Risto and Myers are old news on here, but it's the off season and things get repeated on here. It's like the stupid talk shows in Philly. The Eagles will play one game and then they will talk about it for a week. Things just keep getting repeated after awhile. I just brought up the subject to tone down the usual attack on JD by his stalker.

Ristolainen is not old news. He is a current player on the team and he was relevant to the conversation. Myers, is old news and you brought it up.

This is getting downright comical now! You have been saying the same thing about Risto since the day the Flyers traded for him and subsequently resigned him. Yes, it's old news! Oh, and I'm also not the one that archives other's comments from yesteryear to throw it back in their faces. Again, AmIrite?

The discussion was about the Flyers defense as a whole. Where each player fits in and whether there is room for a young defenseman to make the team. Ristolainen is a part of that discussion. You aren't paying attention. I don't archive posts.

Are you seriously trying to argue the value of what they gave up by looking at what another team selected with the draft picks the Flyers gave up for Ristolainen? Please tell me that's not what you're doing. It was all a crime and myself and many others told you it was a blunder the day it was made. While you were lauding it as one of the moves that put the team on the path to the Cup.
- MJL

No, on the surface it was too much to give up for Risto. What I am argueing is in the end it did not cost the Flyers nearly as much as it could have. At the beginning of that off season I stated the Flyers needed a top pairing RHS defenseman, but that they also needed another defenseman that had size and was physical, because I watched defenseman like Ghost and Myers just get pushed around for an entire season; the Flyers needed much better net front coverage. As you might recall, I called for the Flyers to trade for Ekholm that season, but I also said I would be very happy to get Ellis. The Flyers did get Ellis (and let's not reheash, that turned out to be a disaster). But still the Flyers needed another defenseman with size. Risto had the raw tools, he could skate, shoot, score, had size and played physical. Risto was also drafted by one of the worst run franchises in the league and was not developed properly. I felt that if he could get on a good team with a good system he would develop and be a nice fit in the top 4. Unfortunately Ellis played 5 games, AV lost the team and was fired, and the season blew up. But at the time I thought Fletcher did what he needed to do in that off season, it just didn't work out.

Right now there is no room for any young players to step in. But that is what this year will be all about, evaluating the young defenseman to see who is ready for the NHL. If one or more of the younger defenseman knock hard on the NHL door, Briere will need to trade some veteran defenseman, and in some instances trade them for pennies on the dollar. However I also think its possible Briere trades his younger assets for an established player.

They have no young defenseman knocking on the door; maybe Andrae.

What veteran defenseman can they move? Risto has no value. Seeler was just signed. Samheim is the anchor with no trade clause.

I can see picks being moved for a veteran player. Would they really trade a top 3 prospect? The others don’t have much value in a trade none stand out.

There is no credible evidence that can be offered to support that it didn't cost the Flyers as much as it could've. That is not a sensible argument. Ristolainen has never been good in net front coverage in his career. It is also incorrect that Ristolainen was not developed properly. He is a player who has clearly lacked hockey sense his entire career. In terms of hockey sense, Ristolainen is dumb as a box of rocks. Now he is a declining player who is nothing more than a 3rd pair defenseman. The moves have cost the Flyers dearly.

There won't be much evaluating done. At best there is one spot open. The Flyers will do what they always do. Keep promising prospects down in the minors, until they are no longer in the picture. Not giving them a legit chance.
