Ok, so you are already certain that Briere will be no better than Fletcher, Hextall, Holmgren and Clarke? - jd250
The actions of gmdb so far show that his regime most likely will be the same as the last two gms - mediocre at best |

Neither Bonk or Luchanko have ceilings rated to be what the Flyers need. The Flyers if they were smart, could've had a prospect stable of Michkov, Gauthier and Buium. All 3 are currently rated at the top 15 of NHL prospects. Luchanko is currently ranked 75th. He will rise in those rankings but he is not projected to be an elite player. His ceiling is currently as a 2nd line player. A big draft +1 season is expected and doesn't change that. He was drafted at 17 years old. - MJL
It does hurt to read when you write it like this, but right now that is the fact. In their draft year Bonk and Luchanko were not projected to have 1D and 1C ceilings respectively, but Bonk has clearly risen after his +1 year. I predict Luchanko will rise also. Will they rise to 1D and 1C? Too early to say. But in the end Briere will be judged on the development and impact of these 3 players. I still believe the Buium decision was heavily influenced by the Gauthier situation, both from a college player perspective and agent. |

Actions, and also words. The way he talks about Laughton and Lappy you'd think they were destined for the Flyers Hall of Fame.
It's not a rebuild; it's a concept of a rebuild.

Bonk's projection as an NHL player has not risen above what he has projected to be. A 2nd pair NHL defenseman. If that's the reason why they passed on Buium, then they're incompetent. |

Probably b some decent players waived in the next month. Unfortunately Flyers have zero room on the roster to take a chance. - furio16
They could waive Risto. If he's healthy.

The other possible outcome is 2 of those 3 players play hardball and decide not to play with the flyers at all because they’re agent set that precedent and the flyers end up with only one of them and nothing to show for it
If the flyers also drafted Buium, and with the blessing of his agent, pulled the same stunt, you’d also say they were incompetent- so at best you’re simply not being fair given the context of the entire situation
There’s already tension there and you decide to ignore that to push your agenda you’re more clueless than I thought |

That would be great and makes too much sense. Doubt he would be claimed though.

Michkov makes it easier to fill out the roster. They have someone potential who can beat out top shutdown lines and pairs giving everyone an easier assignment. It’s the biggest possible piece needed and the hardest to get. - psuhockey
A 1C or 1D is more important. Kaprizov ain't turning Minnesota into anything great without those two things. Does anyone think Michkov will do better than 330 points in 278 games in his age 23-26 seasons?

If you believe everything you wrote up there, why watch? If you truly believe it’s going to be another decade of failure, why waste all your time? - psuhockey
Disagree. A winger is not the biggest possible peice to get, nor the hardest to get.
Why do some have the logic fail that if you're deservedly critical of the team, then you shouldn't be a fan and watch?

The reasons Briere stated he did not draft Buium was he was on the smaller side, and the Flyers have Drysdale, York and Andrae, all smaller defenseman, and Briere thought the upside of Luchanko and Buium were the same, thus he went with the bigger organizational need at center. I just can't buy this reasoning. There is just too much overlap with the Gauthier situation here. I also wonder if this had anything to do with why Buium dropped to the Flyers in the first place? I have watched Bonk, I think he has a chance to be a RHS 1D. |

Don’t forget, MJL hasn’t watched any of these guys play… his theories are based on other people’s rankings and predictions… mainly because he doesn’t know what he’s looking at when he is watching |

prospect rankings and projections are what they are, good click bait in an otherwise boring offseason. I think there is a chance both Bonk and Luchanko develop into top players, but we are a long way off from that. Also, Gauthier is a winger, not a center. The Flyers have good enough wingers right now, they need a stud on D and a true top line center. |

They potentially have the most talented player they have had since Lindros; a guy that they would not have come close to being able to draft if not for a war breaking out. There was even talk that he could beat out Bedard for 1st overall before all the international nonsense.
It’s ok to have a little hope right now. - psuhockey
Knowing how this franchise is run not sure how anyone can have hope. If you want to that is ok.
People who have been around long enough know the patterns and the realization they will not change anytime soon.
MM will be the next Giroux in the sense they will go nowhere fast until actual Flyers philosophies are changed throughout the organization. |

Basic negativism is not being critical. It’s cope or looking for cheap dopamine hits on the internet to say look see I was right.
Having a top 5 talent in the league is the hardest to get and Michkov has that potential.

Imagine coming in here acting like the supreme authority on prospects, player evaluations, where guys will end up 5-7 years from now in the NHL, telling everyone else they are wrong about said players - and you’ve never watched them play one (frank)ing game… any of them.
completely delusional 😂
Imagine coming in daily saying Torts is a terrible coach and that the flyers should be looking at young, forward thinking, modern day coaches - and then not being able to offer one single name as an example. Not one.
Imagine having to watch Marty St. Louis “babies first hockey coach” videos to explain the game to you and then having the gall to come in here and tell people they don’t know what they’re looking at - but your personal experience with coaches is some YouTube videos 😂
it would be brilliant trolling if it wasn’t so pathetic |

Flyers created the tension. Now they have to be concerned about the players that agent represents at the NHL and amateur level.
They will now potentially miss out on a high level group players. That is not good. |

That is a fair and logical point.
I don't really watch anymore, except bits and pieces, because in my heart and mind, I don't see them on a contending track. When I do watch, it is desultory watching. To be frank, I am brutally bored by them.
I will watch a few games this year to see MM.
I chat about them here because of procrastination, social media inertia (habit).
Is my behavior consistent with my beliefs? 😉

Briere's explanation was laughable.
There has not even been a hint or a whisper of there being any overlap by anyone except Flyers fans and Flyers speculation. Hopefully this article provides some understanding. There was no conspiracy, just differences in opinions.

It's interesting that you blame the agent. In a similar vein, do you blame Kolosov's old agent, who has been fired, for Kolosov not coming over? or agent JP Barry when Fedotov elected to sign with the KHL rather than come to the Flyers after his military service?
The agents work for the players and never has that been more true than in current times. Never have i heard that it was the agent who was advising him not to play for the Flyers. It wouldn't make sense from the agent's perspective. Playing hardball in contract negotiations, that's what they excel at. This was the client's decision based on the client's leverage and the agent either executes it or get's fired.
This rumored Flyers vendetta against the agent is ridiculous. |

It is not ridiculous as the Flyers hood grudges. Right or wrong. Jones and Torts I can easily seee saying screw this guy. We are the Flyers. |
