Nazar with a terrific night!! Misiak with an empty net late, for a 2 point night. Nice to see a W from the kids. The NHL guys report next week, should be fun. Can’t wait to see 98 again, go Hawks!! |

The guy in the booth with Mike from RKF is Ben Gislason. He was the best PBP guy in the USHL a few yrs back. He had to quit cuz he got married and had to earn so off to corporate America. The MN Wild knew of him, tracked him down and hired him as the AHL Wild PBP man.
Dude is prepared, objective, played the game and is a joy in this day and age of guys in the booth trying to go viral. - Mr Ricochet
Thanks.
THIS comment is why I love reading this blog!
The whole time reading it, I'm remembering Lloyd Petit and Dan Kelly (the original Blues play-by-play guy).
Good hockey play-by-play is rare. Great play-by-play is once or twice in a generation. So I'm glad this guy got this opportunity and is able to do this. |

Gislason was great. worked well with the Rockford guy doing color. Could have sworn they have worked together for a while before this game. |

Last season radio broadcast Icehogs announcers were enjoyable to listen to and moreover they were honest about the good and bad plays they were calling. The color guy I am pretty sure just home games is Steve Martinsen, who played a tough guy role briefly for Edmonton in the early 90’s.
We are fortunate to have a very good radio broadcast team for the Blackhawks Wideman and Tr Murray though haven’t heard if P Sharp will be around |

Both Phillips and Roos are pretty far down the depth chart at this point. Do you envision either player cracking a decent NHL lineup? Neither could cement themselves on a blue line that included Megna, Tinordi and Zaitsev…so there’s that. |

Roos added a definite physicality to his style of play and has professional experience after two seasons in North America. Ottawa may give him an opportunity on recall depending upon injuries and trades. I wouldn’t be surprised if he shows that he can play well enough at the NHL level. Phillips has to put together consistency and greater physical checking would help him secure greater consideration for a trial …..because he isn’t making best decisions sometimes and does not naturally play with physicality. To dislodge a veteran dman Phillips has to make a statement with a good game and use all the tools he is blessed with….step up and should he receive call up due to injuries on the blueline, he needs to make it hard to send him back to the NHL.
Both players conceivably could progress but I wouldn’t bet on it ….it is a long season and perhaps they receive an opportunity |

Is Danny turning into his grandfather? Looks like it will be difficult to watch the Hawks home games thru at least the preseason.
https://www.bleachernatio...n-blackhawks-new-tv-home/
Good news though for those that want to watch the Hogs
While we don’t know how or if we’ll be able to watch the NHL team on television this year, we know how to stream the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate. In a subtle twist of fate on Thursday, the IceHogs shared that FloHockey.tv will stream every AHL game this season. It’s $150 for a full year or you can opt to pay $29.99 per month. - LAHawk
No it's the issue with modernizing and the NHL not having a concise digital platform or coherent marketing plan. They're still slaves to the regional broadcasting infrastructure which is problematic for early adopters in the digital space like the Hawks are. I think at the worst they were saying it would show up on an antenna channel (for free) which should be good enough while they figure out the rest.
The NFL one is interesting since you can stream every live game for like 7 bucks a month if you have a tablet, and just about every tablet should have enough juice to either stream via apple's or google's cast platform to a big TV.
That's including local games according to their website.
ESPN Plus does that except for the blackouts.
Danny isn't his grandfather. With how much better the team will be and how much of a draw Bedard will be they will figure something out before the season starts even if they have to eat some of the cost to make sure that the team is watchable. |

I'm hoping the Blackhawks come out with the Stars and some other teams format of being able to stream it for free. |

Nazar has been the best player on the ice. Misiak and Hayes are more involved tonight, nice to see. Misiak with a great pass to Nazar on his goal. Hayes with a goal as well on a nice pass from Del Mastro. As I said yesterday, so glad to have hockey back!! - ChicagoHope
Which is what you want to see out of Nazar if he is going to try and get a NHL job straight away. |

I am pretty sure I read where it will be on cable. It doesn't start until October 1st. |
|

From Bamford's article ... For those in the Chicagoland area, the new Chicago Sports Network announces free over-the-air broadcasts on Chicago channels 62.2 and 62.3. You'll need a digital TV antenna affixed to your set.
The 1st pre-season game against Detroit Sept. 25 will be streamed on the Blackhawks site similar to the recent prospect games. Hawks are working with Minnesota and St. Louis to stream those pre October 1 away pre-season games.
Also, supposedly the new network is close to an agreement with DirectTV to broadcast on the old NBCSN channel 665. |

I have no idea what any of this means.
If I'm in the Chicago area this Nov/Dec - what is the best way to watch games? Does the nhl have their own streaming service?
Anyone remember the old hockeystreams.com? |

Artur Kayumov, the new Russian player who is never coming over (replacing Shalunov) has 4 points in 5 games so far. Ilya Safonov has played 4 games with no points.
Roman Kantserov hasn't played a game yet. Not sure why. |

He had shoulder surgery after the end of the KHL playoffs a few months ago. Don't now the exact recovery timeline. Probably a couple more months.

ESPN+ has the NHL rights for streaming games. (NHL sold the rights to ESPN in the last TV deal.) Cost is about $11 month.
Watch the Hawk games free over the air if you have access to a TV with a high def antenna, as stated in your referenced article.
Games sound like they may be on the local cable providers and DirectTV. Find a bar that has cable or DirectTV.
There are sites like Buffstreams and OnHockey.TV that stream all types of hockey games. Personaly, can't vouch for any of the them.
