There has been a Risto sighting.
https://www.cbssports.com...en-skating-prior-to-camp/
For all those worried that he wouldn't be available to man his 3rd pairing spot to start the season, worry no more. That's one less spot to worry about a young player getting an opportunity. - Flyers_01
The best thing for the Flyers this year is for Risto to be 100% healthy, play and play well for the first half of the season. Then Briere will be in a good place to trade him and open up a spot for a younger player. You just need some patience here. |

Bill,
What are the odds that Kosolov ever plays for the Flyers? - rmedaska
Honestly, who cares?? He's not the only young goalie in the world that can play for the Flyers. The Flyers have several young and promising goalie prospects in their system, and its not like Kolosov was going to come here this year, light it up and play for the Flyers. I think we are elavating this kid far too much. Doesn't seem to me the kid cares about playing in North America, so why should we care? |

Optics look bad for the Flyers having two high profile draft picks refuse to play for them. However, other than the Flyers seemingly not having great two-way communication with those two, the similarities end there. Fedotov is an entirely different situation given the political issues in Russia, as he obviously did want to come play for the Flyers. - mikeyo27
Why do we always focus on the negatives? Two players don't want to play for the Flyers, one because he is a toolbag and the other because he just doesn't want to play in North America it seems. What about the dozens of players that want to play for the Flyers, like Michkov for example, who told other teams not to draft him because he was not going to play for them; he only wanted to play for the Flyers. Or how about players like TK that want to be a Flyer for life? I think these are the players we need to root for and invest our time in. |

Swift endorses Harris and tells her hoards to vote , and more than 330,000 folks were redirected to vote.gov from her instagram post in one day. Of course, she will have no impact on the upcoming election. Eh what? GO FLYERS! The only team in Philly that really matters! Thanks! |

This is what you do. If there is any issue with a player, any kind of contract issue. Then that player is then not worth it and who cares. If he was in camp, you would be elevating him. There are obvious reasons why we should care.

Will you ever except that Risto is just not movable this year. No team is taking that term with him coming off an injury. Add in he makes over 5 million. He has zero playoff experience. If they retain 50% maybe you find a buyer. Maybe.
Flyers are not interested in opening a spot for a young player on defense. |

Philly isn’t called negadelphia without reason. Plus the flyers have been pretty much terrible the last decade plus.
This doesn’t exactly foster optimism among the fanbase.

Not with that term and money owed. Way overpaid for a 3rd pair defenseman. Teams will have other options without that baggage. |

Firstly, we have no idea whether Kolosov will adapt to the NHL or not, so lets not elevate him as the next Ilya Sorokin. He doesn't want to play in North America and apparently does not want to work his way to playing in the NHL. This is just the facts, I am not making this up. So if he doesn't care, why as fans should we care? |

You're talking nonsense. Nobody has elevated him as the next Ilya Sorokin. There is no indication that he does not want to work to play in the NHL. That is not a fact. You have an issue with recognizing what is a fact and what it isn't. We should care because he is a talented player that could help the Flyers in the future.

To answer that last part of your question, here’s what I believe, in a broader sense: team brass realized last season that there is a solid foundation of young players here, and with the right moves they can compete sooner than they anticipated when they took over in the summer of 2023.
..
The only thing I’ve been told, from one source close to Kolosov, is that he feels he will better develop in the KHL rather than the AHL. I do agree that we don’t know how much to criticize Kolosov or the Flyers organization, considering the lack of information and access to the player himself.
..
As for the power play, obviously that will be under the microscope from opening night. It’s been three straight seasons of the Flyers having the worst power play in the NHL, two of which have been overseen by assistant coach Rocky Thompson. If they are a bottom-five power play again this season, there’s going to have to be some sort of coaching shakeup next summer.
..
I’d be surprised if there were any rookies on the roster on opening night other than Michkov. Briere has already said he expects prospects such as Oliver Bonk and Denver Barkey to return to juniors next season, and it would be asinine to rush Jett Luchenko to the NHL even if he does have a strong camp. As for players on the Phantoms last season, Briere mentioned that guys such as forward Samu Tuomaala and defenseman Emil Andrae both probably need more seasoning before they try and make the jump.
..
The Flyers aren’t going to want to fight that sort of fight. As you said, they had to take on Johansen and $4 million of his salary in order to extract a first-round pick out of the Avalanche. Their issue here is clearly with Johansen, who only informed the organization he was injured after they attempted to reassign him to the Phantoms. It wouldn’t be logical, or good business, to pick a fight with Joe Sakic and the Avalanche. Colorado doesn’t want Johansen, and the Flyers value that first-round pick. And, I expect there to be some sort of resolution with Johansen at some point over the next few weeks. |

Makes you wonder why he wanted to stay. Can’t be the history of winning while he has been a Flyer. Can’t be the they are close to winning angle. |
