Michkov looks great so far .. he has superior ice vision, wins battle and shows no panic.

Wish I could be watching.

Is he as crafty as seen prior with serious stick handling chops? Drawing a lot of attention from defenders?

Is he working on guys heads up, or are they trying to pinch and double up on him when they can?

He looks bigger than I thought. I have to admit I’ve been impressed with his game as well.

He was noticeable pretty much every shift. His goal was the result of great patience. He’s slippery and seemed to end up with the puck on his stick always. Also some fantastic passes. He was seeing the entire ice and looked like he was way above the others on the ice. Now this is game one with a bunch of other rookies but for this night he was everything as advertised.

Also, Jett looked good as well. With one rookie game sample, the future looks bright. Also Bonk was in the bumper position on the PP and played really well. Rizzo with a goal as well.

I know so many of us are hoping for a Kucherov or Ovi type of goal machine, but what you described is what I noticed from the footage I could find. He reminded me of someone else. I saw a young Datsyuk.

And of course I don’t wanna say “he’s the next Dats!” or anything as bold as that. No, no. That man was indeed magic and I don’t want to put too much pressure on the rookie as much as I don’t wanna sully the HOFers accomplishments.

I’m just sayin that’s the style of play I saw. The vision. The craftiness. The stick-handling. The difficulty to be knocked off the puck despite being shy of 6’ and 200lbs. Always had it on a string with great patience. And a slick snipe when called upon.

He’s not a center, but hey, if everything else is in place, I’ll take it. Big ego or not, that’s the kinda guy who makes his team better.
