Helenius at least does play a decent defensive game. While I agree the change in philosophy will mean there's assets that lose value, I just don't see a reason for justifying this much. Grinders are the easiest thing, of all options, to acquire.

1 top 9 job available a year from now. Get used to dealing from a position of weakness, assuming he continues to move the guys who don't fit instead of aggressively going after better players.

And that's a fair assessment, but that means you do nothing. Getting fleeced for the sake of making a trade isn't beneficial. Savoie should be Rochester bound right now and Kulich should be walking into that 3C spot.
- QuinnFan

And you would 🤣 about a defensive center which the team didn’t have!! all hail Quinn busted player!!

Make sure to save this energy for when Jack breaks 30 goals this year.

I know you're strongly against the trade, so I'll leave it at agree to disagree.

He's much more than a PK specialist. We know this.

Would defensive forward be the better category? That's kind of what I'd been calling him previously. And no harm or foul here, agreeing to disagree is absolutely fine. But I'm curious how you'd categorize him.

3rd line and no power play, Zucker and Greenway are most likely options.

If he's a 25pt player, which I think is highly likely, does that sour you on the trade? I'm just curious here.

- QuinnFan

Well who would t want more?
Yet, if he is a solid 200' player, controls possession and shuts down top 2 lines, I good with it.

NHL Owners will be meeting soon to approve the expansion opening. Leading candidates/ownership groups are believed to be Fertitta in Houston and Krause in Atlanta. #NHLexpansion #NHL

Stefan Noesen would've been a good signing. That'd be for free. As far as acquisitions go then it gets tricky as we might argue about returns, but Brandon Tanev or Jesper Fast would've been fine additions that are probably much cheaper, if a defensive forward was the big need.

And fair enough. I kind of thought that was what we had the highly defensive 4th line for, but if he does open Tage/Cozo up for more offensive zone draws...great!

You named wingers for a center position.

We got a 25 year old who I think is(or at the least could be) a top defensive player in the league.

For and oft injured prospect that would be FIGHTING for a spot currently. And in the future.

We have Rosen, Kulich, Ostlund, Helenius, Neuchev, Poltapov, Whalberg waiting in the wings. We dealt from a strength to improve a weakness.

Jesper Fast
Fast underwent surgery to repair his injured neck Aug. 6 and will miss the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign.

doubt a cup contender would replace the top defensive player in the league with henrique

and that is what the oilers did, mcleod out, henrique and savoie in

I said "A", as in hes up there. Metrics agree. Still young. No PP goals against when he was on the ice while facing the best teams in the league.

I don't believe they got better this off-season. At least on-paper currently.

We should pray for Atlanta.

Would most likely mean Tampa and Florida out of our division.
