I’m not sure how you can be underwhelmed by his effort? He would have been in the press box if he wasn’t giving 100% every shift.

Kids really good and has some defensive talent as well

I think 11 goals is a very low number given his skill set

that puts him 38th all time for sabres rookie

No body has put him on a pedestal.

He earned a spot. Not his fault Adams failed his job and made it easier for an 18 year old to make it.

I don't believe anyone was wowed with his point total. He's a solid 200-foot player for an 18 year old coming straight out of junior. The top 3 picks of the draft certainly weren't last year.

Paille played 2 more years of junior after his draft. And then 2 years in the minors and then another year up and down.

Benson playing almost a complete nhl season at 18/19 kinda seems like a steal so far
- Boss34

There are no steals at 13. You're picking in the top half of the first round so you better be getting a good player. He had a Girgensonsesque rookie season and now he's probably going to get top-6 time because the GM thinks that's a good idea so hopefully Benson is up to it

Maybe I wasn't talking about you. Maybe I was talking about my friend Ross who also didn't get Sam Reinhart's autograph

“Steal’s throughout the draft” ever hear of that ?
A steal can happen at any position outside the top few picks imo . Especially in the nhl where players are drafted so young.

NHL 30 point 18 year old really showed well last season

Let’s discourage everyone from liking him

Viktor Neuchev's power-play goal gives the Sabres a 1-0 lead 10:08 into the first period.

One-timer from the left circle to finish a pass from Rosen.

So which one of you is pissed off about this?

That’s fair

I like benson and he made the team based on circumstances and his effort.

What’s wrong with that?

Remember, they were carrying 3 G and VO was the scratch.

There was no competition.

Olofsson and his contract were the competition

Not sure your grudge for the Benson picks. Paille
And benson re not alike at all except maybe for their defensive awareness. Benson had much more skill,
Played as an 18 year old (not a 21 year old).
Paille is much bigger too

I'm just saying, let's pump the brakes on the steal of the draft from 2023

Player A Rookie Season:

.8 G/60
.8 A/60

Player B Rookie Season

.6 G/60
1.1 A/60

A is the former All Star currently employed down south

What is the definition of steal? To me its more like you drafted a great player far beyond where his immediate and overall ability suggests he should have been drafted

At 13 there isn't much room for that argument. I liked the girgensons comp. He was no steal at 14 either

I like Benson for the record. There is just a difference between a steal and simply hitting on a 1st round pick. How big they hit is still TBD

Jost was playing most nights, until they acquired Robinson and sent him down.

Bringing VO back last season was unfair to him and bad for the team. I hope you aren't really looking back at that situation as good lineup battle. In hindsight, you buy him out without a second thought.

Ted Nolan used Big zem as a top liner player if I remember correctly?

Looks like girgs had 30 points and in his second year with over 19 minutes of playing time vs .

Benson at 14 1/2 a game

Benson should put up 40 points this season , we can make some kind of parlay bet lol

Good post

If pick 5 is better than Connor bedard, it’s a steal

That's why I used P/60

As for Benson's points this year, I'll one up you. I think Benson will have 40-45 this year because he'll get plenty of opportunity. I also think they need more than that and top-5 GM once again blew a summer while gushing about his draft steals

Any chance Kulich is in front of him and he sees less top 6 time this year?

I’ll one you up and take benson and 46 points based on a 82 game schedule. What’s the p/60 on something like that?

Most gms gushed at their summer homes this offseason. Top5gm needs time to evaluate his options.

Kulich force his way into the top 6?

He would have to outplay benson in camp imo

Do you think this could happen? Give me a %
