Okay?
So they have a 1st to deal
The condition isn’t that they lose the 1st - Santo_44
No they don’t have a first to deal, and my apologies it’s Chicago that gets the first rounder from the leafs unless the leafs are in the top 10. Part of the McCabe deal. |

Leafs traded their 2025 1st round pick to Chicago which is top 10 protected. - dmnted
Yeah, I had it backwards, the leafs got a conditional 5th round pick |

no, not really as we all hope the Leafs 2025 1st round pick in the 23 to 32 spot
2026 draft is a different story
If the Leafs happen to pick in the top 10, then the pick will be transfer to the 2026 1st round unprotected. |

Cool you can expect that.
I don’t usually agree with your perspective and this is another one I don’t agree with.
Happy Monday - Santo_44
I said the same thing last year and low and behold, they did exactly that.
I see something similar this year.....not alot to play with unless they really empty the cupboards.

Ah crap...forgot about that.
So even less to play with. |

The current GM seems to have absolutely no interest moving picks or prospects. Which is good. Dubas was absolutely terrible moving too much of that stuff. |

Agreed with the above.
I believe its been shown that most big TDL acquisitions dont have a huge impact on the teams results......specially in the leafs case.
I see Tre making small moves to fill some holes that may exist. Hopefully no big ones are needed as that means we have a big problem or major long term injury.
Hoping we see some kids brought up to fill depth later in the season.

They do.
It’s just next year.
Which gets dealt all the time.
And Jake Guentzel didn’t even have a 1st in his TLD deal. |

I had a busy day yesterday and didn't get to see too much of it - but the bit I did see (the third, where Minten had already departed the game), Niemela looked a lot smoother with the puck and in movement than he had in game 1 and Hirvonen was more noticeable; in game 1 he had a few plays, but he was largely eventless.
I'm not sure who I think Cowan's game reminds me of. I was originally thinking his feistiness and size put him in the Gallagher or Tucker area, but watching him . . . he doesn't play like that whatsoever. He doesn't shy away from contact, but he doesn't go seeking it out, either. What I get from watching him is that he competes.
I don't know how you took his game, but he's very successful without any clear standout skill other than his drive - he's a pretty average skater, with above average edgework; an above average passer, but a pretty average puck handler - like you're not going to confuse his game with Marner's anytime soon. His shot is probably just a little above average - you compare him to the kids he's playing with and it's above average there, but you shift that shot in the NHL-sphere and it's probably pretty mid-range.
The way he competes, even with his slightly above average toolkit, and his smaller frame, he could be NHL-ready now - but due to his stature and that competitive fire, he could be better off to physically develop one more year.
I guess that's why there's also big-boy camp starting this week! - Monkeypunk
I've only seen bits n pieces but there's a lot of Konecny comparisons being written about him. Seems like a reasonable expectation for the Leafs ....50-65 pts per year and a complete failure in the playoffs.

He’s been here one year lol.
And it was his 1st year, now that he’s built his D core his way he may be more willing to spend.

I would tend to agree. I base it less on what assets are available and more so if the leafs are going to win the guys/talent are already on the team by the deadline. Panthers got tarasenko last year at the deadline...he isn't the needlemover he once was imo that pushed them over.

It will be interesting… I don’t think you’ll see as much youth as you hope for tho… the leafs are no longer a rebuilding team so when you have Knies, McMann, Robertson, Liljegren, Benoit, and Woll it’s a safe bet that they already think they have enough young guys and that beyond that it will “in their prime” or “experienced” players. |

Ok Dozzer
Hakanpaa isn’t signing, no chance he signs with the leafs.
You are dreaming if you think he will be a leaf. |

By my estimation, Crosby has left roughly $43M on the table taking $8.7M every season since 2008-09.
there are reports that Marner is frantically searching for this table |

Yeah I predict, and will disagree.
You say that something won’t happen and you’ll call people dreamers for disagreeing with you.
Instead of admitting you were wrong just stop doing it. |

I sincerely don’t give two (frank)s about your opinion. I’ll make a guess, but I’ll also be responsible and openly admit when that guess was incorrect. It’s called “being mature” on a hockey predictions site |

I hate the ol' two (frank)s analogy because I'm married with kids and I know that two (frank)s is a lot of (frank)s to have to give up.
The (frank)s are getting harder and harder to come by ever year ....so every (frank) is increasing in value.
In fact ...I'm not sure I'd even give (up) "a (frank)" anymore.
Can't we instead minimize our poops? ...I'm totally down with not giving two poops. Although I do love a good poop so even that ....hmmmm.
And for clarity ...this was important and not at all an excuse to write poop and (frank) a bunch of times. |

poops is tough for me, before the epilepsy took my license I worked as a CET designing manholes, and when I was 12 I fell into the open septic tank in my good clothes on the day of my granddad’s funeral.
It’s all my flaw tho, I’m so sorry |

My birthday's in November.
So my two franks are not evenly spaced.
So I'm willing to give one frank for a good draft pick - it doesn't change my frank waiting period all that much.
