Michkov's quickness and game-speed, hands and mental approach to the game is his superpower. Reading the plays and seeing things come into focus before they happen which makes him seem faster than he really is (Gretzky was the best at this, and no I'm not comparing Michkov to Gretzky). He also has an insane toolkit in his repertoire. Hands, agility, skating/edge-work, puck distribution, seeing the ice, etc. - Pixote Andolini
I don't know what else to say about it. He has had the same cap hit for 17 seasons. IE years and years.
He wasn't even the highest paid player in his own team for much of that deal(s). despite being a generational top 5-10 all time player. And for most of that deal his team was a perennial cup contender. Them not being good NOW changes NOTHING about my original statement.
I'm not sure what he is trying to prove. - MBFlyerfan
Yea, what you posted was very clear lol. It’s actually amazing to me that they’ve had him and geno at very fair numbers for their entire careers and they really didn’t do that great of a job with the team surrounding them. Post the 2010s, some of those teams that won, the Dcore that year without letang was nothing special. Neal was a good add, obviously Kessel but other than that they’ve hit a lot of singles and struck out on the other pieces.

Watch at 9 minute mark where Lappy talks about Tuomaala and compares him to Michkov. Exactly what I was posting this morning about both players.

Big ooof. I really got to get used to living in this MK Ultra brainwash landscape where people have canned responses to everything now.
I'll try my best to hold hands and baby step this process...
This is what YOU said:
I agree with everything you said until the last sentence, which I asked:
I didn't ask about or disagree with his career, accomplishments, team success 8 YEARS AGO...he just signed the contract YOU'RE referring to just recently.
They have Karlsson @ 10m...which was IMO was a good move. He may not be worth 10m, but they dropped a lot of dead cap for a player who is still productive, maybe not as productive as he once was, but also 34 years old.
They have Malkin @ 6.1m...who did the same as Crosby, was a draft pick of theirs and is 38 years old.
Letang @ 6.1m...Again same as Crosby and Malkin, draft pick and is 37 years old.
Now let's look at the Penguins team around that, even if you want let's look at the team the last few years....
DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE IT'S A GREAT TEAM AROUND HIM? - Glak18
Perpetuity and years and years were the clues. That he also has had a 8.7M cap hit for the last 16 NHL seasons he has played. MB was clearly talking about the past and not the current future Pens lineup.

Sid signs 2 years at 8.7
What a dream scenario he has been for Pittsburgh. Not only the best, or near best player in the league for the entirety of his career, but to have him for 8.7 million a year in perpetuity. Giving Pittsburgh the ability to put a great team around him for years and years. - MBFlyerfan
Translation: "He just signed a contract at 8.7m, that's so awesome he signed that because the team put a great team around him many, many, many years ago".
On another note....McDavid, Matthews, J. Hughes, McKinnon, Draisaitl, Kucherov, and all the others are soooooo awesome!!!! None of them signed maxed deals so their teams could put great teams around them! JuSt sAyIng!
But let's stay on the off topic and keep talking about how amazing it is Crosby would take what he did....I'm going to talk about the topic when I asked about the TEAM whether he had great teams around him. I might even start a discussion on how an elite center cornerstone piece could change the dynamic of a team, maybe not a contender at the time until some adequate pieces are put around them to win a cup.

Here's the thing Crosby never got a great team around him. He had his Hossa years and Pittsburgh brought in some late season rentals in cup years, but he NEVER got great players around him because he was unselfish with his contracts.
That has always been the knock on the Crosby Penguins, the supporting cast! Will Crosby finally have someone to play with? He was and is an amazing player, which makes it that much incredible that he was able to win 3 cups with the teams he had.
2 elite centers can take a team many places. I won't even start with their defense and goaltending over the years.

MATT MURRAY! - Glak18
I agree overall they weren't star laden teams. Good role players and supporting cast and a few elite generational players can take you far.
The point of moving Risto is to open a slot for a young player. Yes, it accomlishes it on D but when Kane is healthy then what? Someone in the top 9 is bing sat and thats likely Brink. So effectively you are creating one spot while taking away another. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
And that will happen once a young player makes its crystal clear that they belong in the Flyers lineup. I think right now Andrae is closest to this point. My guess is if Risto shows he is healthy in camp and pre-season the Flyers might be able to move him even before the season starts. Risto seems like the most likely trade candidate.
Luchanko is faster than Michkov! Just sayin...In fact, that could be one hinderance to Michkov's game. He certainly doesn't look like the fastest guy I've ever seen on skates. - Phillywhiteout
Wow…

At least someone gets it. We could potentially have a bona fide superstar from now and moving forward. Jett might not be on this level of stardom but as long as he can play to the best of his potential in terms of work ethic, Michkov may make Jett a better player points wise.

Yeah, that was the WHOLE conversation right there.
I'm not putting down Crosby or even the Penguins...they put teams together that won cups, BUT...
They don't do it without generational draft picks. Kessel was probably the biggest edition since 2010. The rest may have done their job or played their role, but for the most part they were just retreads that got elevated playing with elite skill.
Kunitz
Neal
Hornqvist
Kessel
Guentzel (Draft Pick)
Rust (Draft Pick)
McCann
Kapanen
Carter
Rakell
Zucker
Reilly Smith
Bunting
Hayes
Crosby was still taking a good chunk of the cap %, maybe not his true worth and this is what the team spent it on for him. Luckily he had Malkin.

pure entertainment. Can you name just one team that would look to acquire him before the season and why.

According to some, the Flyers team absolute stinks...
Hypothetically...
The Flyers magically get a Crosby type generational center out of thin air right now, we will assume in this hypothetically situation Michkov is their "Malkin". They both perform to their expectations for the next 15 years.
Who has or had a better team around them...Fake-Crosby/Michkov or Crosby/Malkin?

So you're saying the flyers aren't that far off! By the way, you can't look at stats as far as rules of engagement go (referring to Frost from this morning). When it comes to deciding if a player is engaged in the games on a regular basis you really do need to watch the games to come to a correct conclusion. Stats are for baseball. Thanks!

Sure just a couple of elite generational centers and a Norris trophy caliber defenseman. Not that far off at all!
You don't come to the correct conclusion when looking at Frost as a player. Many, many times you posted " he's invisible" and I proved you to be incorrect. You have a bias as well as an inability to assess the sport. As well as not being educated and informed on what statistical data can show.

A couple of points beyond the generational stuff.
In his prime, I have not seen a must-win game that Crosby played in without seeing his ferocious competitiveness, his refusal to lose, his big game presence being manifested every second. Not all great players have that. i am thinking of qualities shared by Jordan, Mahomes, Curt Schilling for example. No way Crosby has a game 7 that McDavid did in the last SCF. McDavid wasn't bad by any stretch but Crosby isn't just not bad, he is the very best on ice during such games.
And Malkin: arguably the 2nd best center in the league during the heyday of the Pens. Carried the team on his back on the many occasions Crosby was out due to injury. And yet, throughout, content to play 2nd fiddle, and let Crosby be the man. Could have sulked, wanted to move to a bigger market. More attention, more endorsements. Never did.
In summary: not just 2 generational centers. But one who refused to lose and another who was content with being elite but supplemental.

I agree, 2 very special players that are not easy to get and not readily available. You don't sign them as UFAs or trade for them....
Getting just one is half the battle, which makes the building process so much easier...not guaranteed. The filling in part may take time, but is not the hard part.
