I liked better the shorter offseasons that come with playing in the Final. |

So much for the Connor Murphy not ever playing again rumors
Mario Tirabassi
@Mario_Tirabassi
Connor Murphy says he's fully healthy and ready to go this season. He returned late last year but missed nearly half of last season with a groin injury.

Hawks did pretty good with that model in the line-up eh Mohel ?
I do admit his warranty is pretty much over, and probably one manufacture's recall away from expiration

The same could have been said about our second line sometimes when we had a good team too.
The JD's (3rd) line will get the defensive assignments. The top line will get the kitchen sink thrown at it to slow down Bedard. The second line should be able to fly under the radar a bit and hopefully the 4th line can roll out there enough without hurting the team.
Since I don't like AA penciled in at 2C, I was thinking Kurashev might get shuffled back to C. Who knows how long these lines last. I still like the idea of Bertuzzi on line 2 and a more puck skilled TT on line 1. I'm curious to see how it shakes out. Nazar might still sneak his way into this lineup. Maybe AA redeems himself and gets back into the top 6.

I don't know if that was ever a real rumor, but I still wouldn't be surprised if he hurts himself again and he doesn't finish his final two seasons without being on LTIR. He seems to be just unable to keep himself healthy. |

dahawks8819 needs a better source among his friends in the front office. However, Murphy is sure to miss a lot of games the next couple of years due to his past history.

Yep, Rozy was a useful player, although this board rode him hard.
Murph's fine, too; hopefully a kid is ready to take his place right when the warranty expires. |

You can do a lot worse than Murphy if he’s healthy. Eventually they’ll have Arty, Jones, and Rinzel on the right side, can’t wait. |

Add Allan to the list; I hear that - like HawkintheD - he plays both sides. |

Just watched the introductory Foligno named as captain press conference over on the Hawks site.
https://www.nhl.com/black...wks-captain-6362180401112
Interesting at the end, at about the 27 minute mark, group pictures were taken. First - Foligno-Davidson-Wirtz, then Richardson joins the trio, then Faulkner joins the group, then former captains Chelios and Savard join the crowd. No sign of Toews even though he was mentioned by KD and Foligno in their earlier comments.
Me thinks there is some friction between the organization and #19. Either he wasn't invited to the festivities, or was invited and turned it down?

I was told it's a degenerative issue in the hip joint - connecting to the groin. He has talked to other players that have suffered from this.
The main consensus is, it's a condition that doesn't get better, and is not the best for hockey players - especially with lateral movement at a high level.
To me, it doesn't sound like the team is counting on him to play much going forward. That's primarily why they signed Martinez and Brodie.

I think 19 is just focused on life after hockey and at this stage he isn't affiliated with the team at all aside from being a former player. |

It was a "sports hernia" which is a generic term for groin \ hip issue where they can't figure out which component in that very complicated area is causing the issue.
It can get better. It can be chronic. It can be degenerative. It could be gone for forever or it could come back. That's the general problem with that condition is that there a lot of unknowns.
Between that and his back, him, Brodie and Martinez should be rotating and probably play 50-60 games each. If any of those guys play over 70 I think there is a bigger problem. |

From what I was told, they are not relying on him for a full season going forward. And there were teams kicking the tires on him, but backed off when they heard about the issue he is going through. If they are able to move him, it looks like maybe next summer, as a LTIR for a cap strapped team.
