It's not baffling at all that Angelo is out of the league. He can't play D to save his career.
- Feanor

The Flyers put a defenseman in the lineup for 77 games that was worse than Angelo.

They never would have fired Fletcher if it basically wasn’t forced upon them by the fanbase.
- flyer_nutter

The failure to move JVR pushed ownership to fire him.

That is not what we are talking about. He means Briere lied about not being able to talk to Gauthier and his camp, not about lying to protect the kid which Briere openly admitted and explained why.
- jd250

You said that Briere didn't lie about Gauthier. He did and admitted that he did.

Pretty much the same thing in Minnesota after 9 years. Chuck does seem to have a great talent for staying in the good graces of management.

Briere mentions it at the beginning of the video. Says

"I think on his end it is more about he wants to be guaranteed a spot in the NHL"

He is saying Kolosov wants a guaranteed spot on the roster and he thinks thats the big part of the holdout.

It is up to Kolosov to respect the contract he signed. He signed a deal took a signing bonus and the Flyers did him a favour last season loaning him with the promise of coming over this year and now he is renagging. Briere even addresses the rumours and says the team has done everything to try and make the adjustment easier.

IMO based on the information out there, Kolosov is the guy in the wrong.

Don't need to. Bill laid out the synopsis. Other than Briere, there is no corroboration of what Kolosov's stance is. It is naïve to blindly accept what Briere says.
- MJL

I'm a fan of the team. I believe Briere until I see solid evidence that demonstrates I should not believe him. Unfortunately you and others start from the other side of the street.

Read it again, he is saying he thinks thats the main issue. Him wanting the spot is a fact. He is not Kolosov so he cant say for a fact what the major reason he isnt coming over is, he can only speculate its the thing his camp has demanded. It is still possible the home sickness might be the bigger issue.

This statement is out there. If anything is lied about Kolosov's agent can comeout and say so. They havent yet so theres no reason to not believe what briere has said

You mean KY? That was his last year. Him and Angelo both had horrible defensive results here in their single seasons as Flyers.

I feel like they need to look at moving at least one forward yet(Farabee/Laughton). Just seems like a numbers game if your wanting to get guys like Brink and Michkov in the lineup regularly.

lol this is so (frank)ing lame!

"i don't need to watch the thing i am deciding to disagree with you own since i plan on disagreeing with you no matter what"

don't need to? so just willfully ignoring evidence simply to be a pain in the ass?

I think he meant Ristolainen and I’m sorry, Risto is far and away better defensively than Angelo.

Well of course we do. What reason is there to give them any benefit of the doubt? How have they earned that? Similar to how you say players have to earn a spot. Why doesn't Flyers management have to earn trust?

You're not understanding nuance. Briere said ""I think on his end it is more about he wants to be guaranteed a spot in the NHL"

Which is quite different than saying "Kolosov told us he wants a guaranteed spot"

It leaves it open for interpretation. If that is in fact what Kolosov told the Flyers, then he is wrong.

I think it's fair to say that everybody believes Kolosov is in the wrong here.

He did sign a three year deal with a $277,500 signing bonus to play for this organization. Briere did him a solid by agreeing to let him return home last year rather than develop here. Now Danny wants him to honor his agreement.

Kolo or his agent may have insinuated he'd like assurance of an NHL roster spot (if so, he needs a new agent), or it may be only Danny assuming such. Maybe he is homesick and really misses the borscht from his local deli. Who cares? He signed a contract. Man up and do what's necessary to start your pro career whether it's in Lehigh Valley, PA or Death Valley, California.

No Briere bashing here. He's totally in the right.

Briere has not earned your trust with his return for Provy and how he handled the Michkov situation? Also, why are folks upset that he lied about - anything? Thats his job.

Kolosov must have believed he had an agreement with the Flyers to play in the NHL. Maybe there was a miscommunication between the Flyers and the goalie’s agent? It’s not too hard to imagine that. DB seems to have trouble with communicating with agents. Maybe the miscommunication was between Kolosov and his agent? Didn’t he change agents after his brief stay with the Phantoms? Whatever the reason Briere, as always, seems innocently befuddled. It’s like when your kids were little and they broke something and they say “I don’t know what happened. It wasn’t me”.

I really think you live in the past. There is a new governor of the Flyers, a new POHOs and a new GM. Clarke is gone. Hextall is gone. Fletcher is gone. Holmgren is gone. The past is the past. I am looking forward to the present and the future with this team. Briere, Jones and Hilferty to me get the benefit of the doubt until they show they no longer deserve it. At some point the luck for this franchise has got the change and things have got to go in a better direction. I will always approach the team as a fan with hope versus a fan that is just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Believe me I know how that feels quite well coming from Boston. Growing up a Red Sox fan it was tragic to be part of their epic defeats, and with the Patriots it was always something that would fall apart. Then 2001 happened and to everyone in NE's amazement, Vinitieri kicked the 48 yard field goal and we were world champions! Things after that around here got a lot different. So I just refuse to approach the Flyers from a position of skepticism and doom. I just don't want to live that way nor follow a sports teams like that. I had enough of that growing up.

I doubt it. Why would they? He hasnt even been that great. It is very unusual for a goalie to just jump to the NHL. Carter Hart was regarded as the next Carey Price as a prospect and he even started in the AHL. Flyers goaltending situation is more favourable for Kolosov because Ersson and Fedotov are both unknowns. Flyers have been known to use lots of goalies. We used 5 goalies last year between Hart, Ersson, Sandstrom, Petersen and Fedotov. Theres a good chance he gets NHL time.

People say the Flyers need to be more cuthroat and taking a hard stance is not even unreasonable. It would be worse for the Flyers to be known as the team that caves to all prospect demands.
