Briere has not earned your trust with his return for Provy and how he handled the Michkov situation? Also, why are folks upset that he lied about - anything? Thats his job. - 26912 PP
No, he hasn't. Neither was some master stroke. Briere is clearly on board with the stated approach that Keith Jones has laid out. That once cap space clears, the Flyers are going to go right back to doing what they've always done. Trying to trade and buy their way there. He is showing no signs of being a change agent and changing the course of approach of the franchise.

I really think you live in the past. There is a new governor of the Flyers, a new POHOs and a new GM. Clarke is gone. Hextall is gone. Fletcher is gone. Holmgren is gone. The past is the past. I am looking forward to the present and the future with this team. Briere, Jones and Hilferty to me get the benefit of the doubt until they show they no longer deserve it. At some point the luck for this franchise has got the change and things have got to go in a better direction. I will always approach the team as a fan with hope versus a fan that is just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Believe me I know how that feels quite well coming from Boston. Growing up a Red Sox fan it was tragic to be part of their epic defeats, and with the Patriots it was always something that would fall apart. Then 2001 happened and to everyone in NE's amazement, Vinitieri kicked the 48 yard field goal and we were world champions! Things after that around here got a lot different. So I just refuse to approach the Flyers from a position of skepticism and doom. I just don't want to live that way nor follow a sports teams like that. I had enough of that growing up. - jd250
The names have changed but the story is the same. It's very much about the present and not the past. You're just too blind to see it. As usual. How many times does it have to happen before you realize that I know what I'm talking about and you don't? It's been going on for literally years.
Players have to earn it. However, hockey management such as Hilferty, Jones and Briere, who have literally done nothing in this business, they get the benefit of the doubt until the no longer deserve it. Don't you have to deserve it first before you don't deserve it?
Yea, let's go with luck and hope. That should work. |

I doubt it. Why would they? He hasnt even been that great. It is very unusual for a goalie to just jump to the NHL. Carter Hart was regarded as the next Carey Price as a prospect and he even started in the AHL. Flyers goaltending situation is more favourable for Kolosov because Ersson and Fedotov are both unknowns. Flyers have been known to use lots of goalies. We used 5 goalies last year between Hart, Ersson, Sandstrom, Petersen and Fedotov. Theres a good chance he gets NHL time.
People say the Flyers need to be more cuthroat and taking a hard stance is not even unreasonable. It would be worse for the Flyers to be known as the team that caves to all prospect demands. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
why would who do what? I didn’t say they told Kolosov he’d be in the NHL. I said there was some poor communication somewhere |

Sorry Sirianni but you changed coaches and personnel and the eye test is fully the same as last year!!!
Can’t stop the run
Can’t cover
Rush 4 drop 7 in soft zone
No pressure
No sacks
Offense looks the same
We’re is Dotson
We’re is Goddard
We’re is Shipley
Designing plays for covey is laughable
Nice try. But the gang here is swallowed up for the Michkov vs Torts power struggle. And who comes out on top |

Blackhand: when Davis was drafted, and Hamilton was on the board, I argued with you in favor of Davis.
Based on results until now, you were right and I was wrong. Shades of BG versus Earl Thomas is the best hope we can have at this stage. |

I'm tired of the Kolosov BS
If Jeremy Swayman was on the market and you had no choice on whether the Flyers got him or not.
What would be a reasonable price to acquire him be to you? |

Exactly what his agent wanted, Swayman just wants his pay and to get ready for the season. I don't blame him because like you said the Bruins made him more valuable trading Ullmark.
I don't mind when players hold out, I just will never except when they come back they are "rusty" or "behind"...it's 2024 and better be ready to play the minute you sign that contract, no if, ands or buts.
I don't really believe the Flyers are ready to make a deal like this for a goaltender, but for poops & giggles...
Fedotov or Ersson
Farabee
2024 1st (Col or Edm)
MAYBE a 2024 3rd as well
I wouldn't pay anymore. If the cap hit is 8.5m the Flyers could fit it if the termination of RyJo goes through. The scariest thing is Ullmark played great too...was it the team in front or the goaltenders in back? Probably both, but 8.5m is for goaltenders that win when the team is weak.
Also paying 8.5m or more they better have a history as a full time starter, 60+ games played. Swayman has not had that.
The more I think about it, Boston should trade him if the ask is that high...hopefully not to the Flyers. |

1) I think Attard clears. Teams have their own numbers game. But there's always a chance he gets claimed as a big RHD with a heavy shot.
2) Before the season, no. In season, possibly (Farabee, for example).
3) I'm not holding my breath on Abols or Eklind.
4) My wife's hamburger soup, fresh baked garlic cheese bread , a big rib steak with a baked potato. - bmeltzer

They have Korpi...I know, I know, but he may be a Vezina finalist with their track record.
I just looked at Swayman's history and is a really good goaltender, but if his ask is to be paid with the top goaltenders then I'm passing.
Price (MON) 10.5m -> Vezina, 50+ GP 8x, on LTIR
Bobrovsky (FLA) 10m -> Stanley Cup, 2x Vezina, 50+ GP 10x
Vasilevskiy (TBL) 9.5m -> Multiple Stanley Cups, Vezina, 50+ GP 7x
Hellebuyck (WPG) 9.5m -> Vezina, 50+ GP 7x
Sorokin (NYI) 8.25m -> 50+ GP 3x
He doesn't even come close to any of them. Swayman's history says he's a bridge of no more than 6.5m per.

Well they had Ullmark as well, so lesser games played are not his fault.
Swayman did take the starting job away from ullmark though |

I know it was a hypothetical situation is why I said exactly the same thing in my initial post.
I read an interesting study where they asked many prison inmates about hypothetical situations, many of them could not comprehend what was asked.
Q: Let's say you didn't have breakfast today.
A: But I did have breakfast, I had oatmeal
Q: Ok but let's pretend you didn't for a quick second
A: I am very confused, I did have breakfast though
The results were interesting.

The lack of history without that partner is what would scare me. He could take it and run away with it, but that's a big contract to hope for.
