2025 (in order of prob finish)
1st: Own.
1st: Acquired from Colorado in 2024 trade of D Sean Walker.
1st: Acquired from Edmonton for 32nd overall pick in 2024 (conditional to 2025 or 2026).
2nd: Conditional pick acquired from Columbus in 2023 trade of Ivan Provorov after they elected to keep their selection in 2024.
2nd: Acquired from Anaheim in 2024 trade of F Cutter Gauthier.
2nd: Own.
Something good has to come out of this in an above avg draft.. - 26912 PP
They need more than something good. They need elite players. They have good players and have been able to get those kind of players. It is elite or bust.

why will the pens be better this year? or the isles or buff or detroit or ott or wash. I dont know that I want them to, but they could conceivably finish above all of these bubble teams - 26912 PP
why wont they?
sure, they could if all those teams schitt the bed again. Did any of those team improve? Did the flyers improve overall? |

Six picks in the top 40-50 should net something good. But it's the Flyers so who knows. I would like for them to make all three first round picks. They need so much. Maybe use the second rounders to move up and target specific players in the first round.

the roster they have going into the season is better than the one that ended it imo.
Hayes will have bounce back year production wise I believe. |

I think Hayes will be his usual self, around 20 goals and 25 assists

Believe it or not, a season like that would tie his 3rd most points in a season.

I'm listening to Tort's first presser after the first day of training camp. I'm so excited about how great "the room" is. If they gave away a Stanley Cup for the best room the Flyers would win it. Yay! |

Going into camp, here is how I see the state of the team.
POSITIVES
The addition of Michkov
Drysdale being healthy to start the season
Another year of experience for younger players like Foerster and York
NEGATIVES
Torts is gonna be Torts and history shows that the longer he is with a team the more he wears on them
The goaltending is a question mark at best
Rocky still runs the pp
No legit 1C and a major lack of quality depth at the position
No legit 1D and a lot of question marks after Sanheim & York
“Best” case, they finish right around where they were last year or a hair better, 86-91 points, but still miss the playoffs and pick in the 11-15 range
“Worst” case, the goaltending falters, a few key players get injured and the team quits on Torts leading to a 70-75 point finish and a pick, sans lottery luck, in the 4-7 range
My prediction: 80 points, 6th or 7th in the East, 13th or 14th in the conference and a pick in the 7-9 range. - BiggE
Oh nice. A prediction.
I will go with: 9-14 in standings.
I also said MM would be in the 65-70 pts. I will revise a little and say:63-70.

If their own pick is 10+, I agree with you. In the value chart, 2 picks are likely more than 1 in that range.
But, if they do manage to get near top 5 with their own, and their trade picks are also somewhat high, I would advocate trying to move up.

9-14? Flyers might be a top 10 NHL team in your view?

I really don't know what to expect this year. More of what we saw last year, I suspect. You can't compete in the league without talented depth down the middle. - Dave21Brown
And the goaltending has to equal Hart's solid effort last season. I believe Flyers would have made the playoffs with a solid Hart for the full season. |

Hart was an average to below average NHL goaltender last season. Nothing special. They're better off without out him in the big picture.

Absolutely. The NEED t be in the top 5 for the 2025 and 2026 drafts. That is where they can grab some of that elite talent. 2025 has some top end centers it is looking like. Depending how they play it, they could drastically alter their future.
But the picks need to bring in some Elite talent. |

Master technician and strategist John Tortorella getting his team in tip top shape before the season even starts. While the rest of the dopey teams ramp up during the season, the Flyers gold standard has them ready from the first puck drop.
I’m sure the wheels won’t start to fall off again once the season starts to actually matter. - StepfordSam
No teams do the archaic Torts test. Could have been useful in the 70s when the players smoked 🚬 and were boozing the whole offseason. Now most players are full-time athletes through the break. |

"The Anaheim Ducks picked veteran defenseman Radko Gudas to be the ninth captain in franchise history on Thursday"
"Gudas is the first player to wear the "C" for the Ducks since Ryan Getzlaf retired at the end of the 2021-22 season"
Nice to see Gudas having a solid career. Always liked him. |

Their bottom 6 is awful. Their top 6 is old. Letang and Karlsson play no defense and Jarry is inconsistent. They arent making the playoffs. Hayes will have a comeback year you are kidding. We all know what Hayes is |

Seems like a Verbeek pick...even though players pick the captain, I believe.
Kind of says a lot about the young players not ready to carry the torch.
