excited to see how the D looks - specially OEL and Lily - 21peter
You’ll be disappointed then lol
The pairings are bang on to what I guessed they would be. They won’t lean on Liljegren to protect OEL defensively and they’re not going to continue using a 3rd pairing guy (Benoit) with a second pairing guy (McCabe), at least not to start.
So far the D looks like this
Rielly Tanev
OEL McCabe
Webber/Chadwick Liljegren
And since Benoit won’t be in the lineup they’re using Webber (who has been covering for Benoit’s absence so far in practices paired up with Liljegren) and Chadwick.

doesn't matter what the pairings looks like - just wanna see if there's some improvents on Lily. They say he's aiming for 2nd pair

A Lily OEL pairing would get absolutely (frank)ing destroyed against quality competition. - GalacticStone
Yeah, and I liked them don’t kid yourself but it was also pretty obvious that McCabe and Benoit were over worshipped as a pair.
Of course they looked good, the other two pairings was Rielly Lyubushkin and Liljegren Edmundson. Not all that difficult to look like the best pairing in a lineup like that lol
In the playoffs Benoit was also barely covered when he was handling or shooting the puck because even tho I like him I can also admit he’s basically no offensive threat.

they are just old hockey guys - some with connections to a coach here and there...
just like when Willie turned up much stronger a few years back - 21peter
Yeah, and here’s hoping he can use his size at C in a solid way

That because they like to body check people on the ice and at times, drop the gloves.
Not to many Leafers on the team do that.

Cover song of the week. There is some controversy over the writing credits for this song. Some credit Billy Roberts the San Francisco folkie, some Dino Valenti of Quicksilver Messenger Service. A garage band named the Leaves also claimed credit. Others say it is a traditional song. Either way, a classic.
