I don't take much from the game. One thing I thought and you can correct me if I am wrong but Brink looked a little faster. Maybe it was due to the team they were playing but I thought his skating was noticeable. - J35Bacher
Yes, Brink was faster. Apparently he worked hard this summer on his edge work and explosiveness. The one nitpick I have with Michkov is he looked slow in this game to me. I'm sure being his first camp had something to do with it, and I am sure he will improve his skating as he matures in the league. |

Carsen Bjarnason looked good in this game. What I like is nothing got through him. For example in one sequence Kristall came down the left wing and took a nice shot from aobut 10 feet that was labeled for under the arm of Bjarnason, but he was able to squeeze it. That is what I look for from young goalies, do they allow pucks to go through them. In the shootout Bjarnason made a nice stop on the 2nd attempt. He was beaten on the 3rd SO attempt, but the puck hit the post. - jd250
great observation. I mean if they get through they go in the net no? |

Well you get to see the new fancy shiny player MM against better caliber players.
You also get to if Jett has any potential.
Have players like brink and frost grown into adult bodies?
How does drysdale look after his surgeries and the weight gained?
Did Fedotov look better than he did last season, did he look more comfortable?
So plenty to see. I am not down on them like quite a few on this boars are. - WhiskeyMan
I agree there was an awful lot to like from that game. Yes the competition wasn’t Washingtons “A” squad, but the Flyers who sent two NHL type lines and a few D looked very good and did what they should have done….I watched the Ottawa Senators beat the Leafs last night with there B squad, while the Leafs dressed most of their roster including all 4 star players….
Individually guys that I’m hoping take big steps this year are off to a good start….Farabee, Brink, Frost, Drysdale, Andrae…all looked really good. Michkov and Lachanko looked really good as well.
After an Eagles win it was a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

So this most likely means that we won't get to michkov play his first game in MTL?!
Iam curious to see how MM plays when he is the #1 villain in a city. |

I think Michkov will be just fine….he’s one of those guys that slows the play down because he can. How he thinks the game at 19 is pretty impressive. |

Bjarnason looked really good…besides any goalie will tell you the post is part of their equipment. |

just think how good they will be when they ice their full lineup. going to cause matchup problems for every other team. - hello it's me 2050 Okay, I'm just spitballin here. Basically, preseason to me is about the youngsters. And by all accounts they looked good yesterday. In the grand scheme of things it most likely means little, but it's nice see players like Michkov and Luchanko showing that they belong at the NHL level (Luchanko is prolly a year away). I couldn't care less what established NHL players do against depleted rosters. Just don't get hurt! |

how did those 2 show they belong at the nhl against a team of mostly non NHL level players?
they both did their job as one would expect as high 1st rd picks. |

I don't know where these numbers keep coming from? There was a guy on The NHL Network (Sirius/XM) a couple weeks ago that said he weighed in at 147 lbs. I had to go look it up and he is listed at 5'10" 183. - Phillywhiteout
Is that in skates and pads? |

Is that in skates and pads? - Dkos I don't think so. There was a pic where he was standing next to Briere. They basically were identical in size although Michkov looked a bit stockier.

The comment was not that there wasn't anything to see. Frost and Brink haven't previously been in adult bodies? LOL.
You aren't going to see much with NHL players playing against non NHL players.
It was a meaningless game. Simply a warm up exercise.

He got a lot of ice time yesterday. Between that and rookie camp and then Torts bag skating them the last few days I’m guessing his legs are feeling pretty heavy. |

when they play against nhl players then and only then will they show they "belong". |

need to commend lappy on a well coached game. hopefully he takes some strides as a coach to put himself in contention for the flyers job in a few years. |

And that wouldn’t have mattered either - ClaudeFather I disagree. My logical brain would say "if they can't compete against non NHLers, what the hell are they gonna do against true NHL players". I mean, no one is anointing them the next ones, but it's something to be positive about in my eyes and beats the alternative.

He worked on power skating along with added muscle. He was moving well yesterday. |

flyers have one of the weakest center groups in the league.
ex selke
frost
laugton
RP
so much hinges on ex selke. if he picks up where he left off flyers in trouble. If the jett shows well guess it wont be shocking if they keep him. Wonder who will have the final say in that decision. |

Briere is listed at 5’9”. He looks shorter than that to me too. |

the diff was noticeable compared to last year. reminded me a little of when umberger came back to camp one year looked much better skating wise as he worked on it as well. |
