Stop flattering yourself. I really don't like Frost's game that much and I haven't hid my feelings on the subject. Too many games where he's just there. Make a difference every shift you are on the ice. I also don't like the fact that he doesn't look to shoot when he is in prime shooting position. It drives me crazy! He doesn't even fake a shot before he makes the inevitable pass. Shoot the puck more!!
- Phillywhiteout

I'll tell you what, I watched Frost late last season in Boston and I was impressed with his all around game. Yes he scored a between the legs goal in that game, but what really impressed me was his 200 foot play and his willingness to get into the corners and fight for the puck. This was not always something Frost was willing to do which IMO was the main reason he was sometimes benched. Coming into this season I am impressed with what Frost has stated he needs to work on; to win more puck battles which is why he added more weight this offseason, to shoot more which is something I complain about frequently, and to be more consistent. The first step in what I call the 3 As is Awareness which clearly Frost has. The next step is Acceptance which I think Frost didn't have at the start of last season but I think now has. Now the final step is Adaptation which I think Frost is currently trying to do. I am routing for him to succeed. He certainly will be playing with good wingers this year which should help him quite a bit.

if they get out of the way, does that apply to just frost or others? if so what others?
- hello it's me 2050

It applies to all players. You cannot honestly believe that Frost is treated the same as other players?

Send someone to the ECHL. Peterson or Makiniemi. The other backs up Kolosov in the AHL.

It's Tort's job, and the job of his coaching straff, to coach the players. It's complete nonsense to say a coach should get out of the way. Frost needs the coaching, that is fact, not opinion. Others players may need more or less coaching depending on multiple factors.

Frost has really shown improvement every year. Imagine what might happen if the Flyers get out of his way. Some fans just don't realize that for a lot of players, it takes time. We're getting to the point where Frost has to take a jump in play if he is going to be anything more than what he is.

It is a big year for him for sure….as was last year. Players develop at different rates, some explode, some just gradually get better….while others fizzle out. I still hold out hope. The Flyers have some decent W’s….a guy like Frost has the opportunity to produce this year.

Will the rabble within the Flyers fanbase demand a pound of flesh before they welcome Kolosov? Based on initial reaction on Reddit and twitter, the answer is not only a pound of flesh but the blood of his first born as well.

A coach should coach. Benching a player repeatedly without explanation is not coaching to me. This is especially true when other players are seemingly immune to being benched despite long periods of sub par play.

Frost’s two way game has vastly improved …maybe not vastly, but he is a more complete player. I think he’s capable of being a 65-70 point C in this league. Will he get there ? This is a year where he can hopefully put up #s to match what his skill level is….you can’t teach what he has.

In a round about way Kosolov made the right decision for his career, IMO. I think there is a very high chance he will play in the NHL.

The issue is that you are ridiculously slow to realize when a player has made gains in areas of play, even when it has been proven to you. He's not trying to do all of it. Most of it has already been done. Frost has been a solid 2 way player for a couple of seasons now. The data proves that. He has been benched because the coach is a biased bumhole. All of which is not the same as saying that Frost doesn't need to improve and get better. He needs to produce points at a higher and more consistent rate. That is the next step for him but it takes time. People don't realize that his games played total is low for a player that is 25.

It's interesting that you make the statement that playing with good wingers should help him quite a bit when you argued for years that Frost's usage and deployment had nothing to do with it. I await the inevitable spin.

Question for you. Do you believe that Owen Tippett should pass the puck more? If not, why?

No he needs to address the situation with the player directly. At least in my opinion. Torts has admitted multiple times that he hasn't.

Peterson in Reading! He’s gonna love it. The pagoda. The minor league baseball. The Rajah Theater. The Duryea Hillclimb. The Ugly Oyster and Northeast Taproom. The smell of mushroom farms wafting in from out of town to cover up the city’s urine odor.

He might like it. He could afford a palace in Reading. No Flying Hills Apartment Complex for him like the rest of the minor leaguers. Find somewhere out near where Roger Penske had a house.

I do like the Royals’ stadium. It’s better than what Reading deserves.

What kinda scares me about my last post is if Frost has an outstanding season playing with Matvei, gets paid, and then here comes Jett. Now Frost doesn’t live up to that deal. He’s not the asset he was.

Maybe the Flyers get yet another young center with potential in this upcoming draft with all those picks. Someone with the potential to play sooner than later.

Now, Coots is aging. Maybe that saves Frost if Selke loses his spot on the top 6. But that means you’re paying Coots an exorbitant amount of money to 3rd line. That’s not good either. He’s almost a trade or buyout candidate at that point. If he’s traded, you’re gonna eat salary.

But hey, I gotta stop looking at the negatives of the result is a boost in offense all the same.

- Hesh_

You are but for Coots to become a Jordan Staal like player near the end of the contract isnt the worst thing in the world. Not ideal but at least you got a productive player wheras the alternative is that he isnt productive at all. I dont see the Flyers dipping into FA next season. Theres too much money that needs to be paid out to the players we have.

Frost
York
Michkov
Foerster
Drysdale
Farabee
Ersson
Brink

Will all need new contracts in the next 1-3 years. Depending on how well they do we could be paying a lot of money to these players

Good news is Ellis will be gone, Peterssen gone, Delaurier gone, Hathaway Gone, Laughton probably gone if not resigned at much lower hit, Cates gone or signed at lower rate, Fedotov gone. That and Cap increases can probably cover those raises.

Not sure what plan would be for Peterson…watching the other night in MTL…I cant say I care…lol.
Makiniemi is only 25…..has had some injury issues derail his career to this point but was a highly touted prospect on a few years ago….not a bad up to bring in at all.

Ellis currently helps the cap situation, which is why he hasn't been traded. With some of those players potentially gone, they have to be replaced. How are the Flyers going to do that? With prospects or with trades and signings. Make no mistake about it. As soon as they can, they are going to get right back to doing what they've always done. This is not a rebuild. It is a pause until they get cap space.

Send Michkov and Zamula….and the guy that chauffeured me around, “Mr. T”, when I used to stay at the Holiday Inn Stadium. That would do the trick.
