If the Flyers had called up Kolosov and had him play 3 games for them while posting a 4.95 GAA and an .811 SV%, what would be the narrative be around him coming into this year? - Flyers_01
Not really. I’d want him in rookie Camp and here for the main camp to see what we have/ keep him developing |

Perhaps, but your argument was that Kolosov had proven nothing in North America but that argument holds true for Fedotov as well. Fed wasn't falling over himself to come over last year either. He made demands, which he was in better position to make, to which Briere caved despite him never playing in NA.
Flyers fans should remember when Jiri Dopita was considered the best player not playing in the NHL and how that worked out. - Flyers_01
You are correct, but his demands may have been to help payoff his KHL team and get out out Russia.
If we go off career outside of North America, Fedetov is the better goalie.

He seems more polished from what I can tell. Less of a prospect and more of an established pro although not proven here in the nhl. I still have no idea how he’ll fare with us. |

I want Fedotov to get as much net time in the preseason as possible. I know what Errson is, but like you I can't tell what Fedotov is yet.

Much like many cities in the US, Canada changed how criminals are punished, cashless bail system. - WhiskeyMan
Yes. I was going to add that it’s an epidemic up here in Toronto and Montreal for stolen vehicles. The other day in Toronto an 18 yr old woman fake being interested in buying an suv. She got in the drivers side pretending she was gonna test drive then ran over the owner. Of course she was Granted bail but re arrested as she has several other charges pending.the pendulum has swung too far here |

I doubt the Russians take IOUs from people who they may never see again since he did not have that money in hand. He either already had the money or most likely DB paid the freight.
No argument as to who has had the better career outside of NA. |

So what I did notice last year is that he seemed a bit off his angles at times. Hes huge so he doesn’t need to play way out at the top of his blue paint often but he seemed to get lost. I am hoping that was due to getting used to smaller rinks as shots tend to come from closer as there’s not as much room between net and boards, and you need to adjust. Or he could just suck. Who knows haha |

With Kolosov, he may very well have some mental health issues or maturity issues. Do we know for sure that he’s just having a tantrum because he wants to be gifted an NHL spot? |

I don’t think anyone knows for sure other than him and his agent. I’ve read lots of theories. |

Yeah. It’s a strange situation. It really sucks that we can’t confidently just take the Flyers word on things like this. |

My understanding is that KHL rink sizes are similar to the NHL.

I wouldn't say he's mediocre in the KHL. His situation is more comparable to Fedotov's last year. Fed had proven nothing in NA and had slightly better stats in the KHL regular season but worse stats in the playoffs in 2024. Fed is older and has a better track record in the KHL though.
Fed wasn't coming over without bending Briere over. The NHL spot and contract extension were all agreed upon before he ever set foot on the plane.
https://x.com/ADiMarco25/...tatus/1782745531619369429
I know the Fedotov AAV is higher than expected, but the contract was agreed upon prior to the player coming over from Russia.
I'm told that the contract had to be a certain number to get Fedotov to come to North America.
Just because Briere caved on Fed because he was desperate to make the playoffs last year doesn't make Fed a better guy, it just makes him the guy who got paid.
The KHL isn't bending over backward for Kolosov like they did Fed so what Kolosov is doing is mystifying but is Fedotov any more a sure thing in NA than Kolosov? - Flyers_01
Seems to me that Kolosov either doesn't want to play in North America (culture) or for us (institution). If the latter, he cannot say so explicitly. After CG, it would create a storm, and Briere would be forced to not give in and that doesn't help Kolosov. If it is the latter though, there might be potential for a trade.
If it is the former, not to engage in stereotypes, but it would be a very Russian thing to do, and the propsect of not playing in NHL, giving up the very good chance of competing for a regular role in Flyers goalie rotation etc, will not carry much weight.
This could be a hard count and he shows up, but for now it seems to me standard hardball holdout tactics. Down the line, the Flyers will have to release him; perhaps annulling the contract, perhaps recovering bonus money. The optics of ruthlessly destroying a career simply because a player is bound to them would be too damaging.
What am I missing here that makes this case any different from the others?

I just can't understand Kolosovs thinking. Is he hoping for some sort of arbitration to get him out of his contract.
He put he name on a contract, he needs to honor it. - WhiskeyMan
Apparently he just does really didnt like Allentown and doesnt want to be in North America unless hes in the AHL. He should really just suck it up because He could be replacing Fedotov in two years max and one of Ersson and Fedotov will get hurt at some point this season. I wonder at what point do the Flyers say to Kolosov, too late?
They signed this new guy and Petersen is here whether we like it or not. Question would be whether they sit Petersen and just run the two young guys |

Hmmm, I don't see any evidence of what you are saying. Seems to be a pretty hard decline over the years, and then some fluctuation around the lower mean. Much lower than during the Conservative years.
EDIT: This is overall crime, but it is the same for any kind of crime I checked. Property, homicide, violent crime and so on. |

Big difference, Redd!ck has been in the league for quite some time and has proven to be a top player.
Kolosov was drafted in the 3rd round, was a mediocre goalie in his league and has proven nothing in North American hockey. - WhiskeyMan
I don't see how this has any relevance to the situation. Unless you are talking about the moral right of the former in some way....
