I was thinking of you when i saw that first goal against, hahaha - BetweenTheDots
He and Martinez look like rookies so far.
Guess #14 didn't spend much time in the weight room. Still bouncing off guys |

Could have signed Gus for one year instead of Brodie.
At least Gus would give them a PP QB cause neither Jones or #14 aren't it. |

I watched the whole game on chicagoblackhawks.com. When the guy from Detroit went in on a breakaway after Bedard gave up the puck, they went to player profiles, so I didn't see the play until they replayed it. Great move on their part! Detroit pretty much controlled the play all game. Bedard made a nice pass to TT for the goal. Friday night should be interesting. |

Despite a couple rough patches at the blueline on the PP I thought Bedard looked really good, especially in the 1st. Kid had some jump, nicely backchecked a couple times and not just glide up and reach, won a wall battle, stuck his nose in. As good in possession at this level I've seen him. Often he was just pushed aside and stripped last yr, not at all tonight ...... Feet didn't move as much in the 2nd and 3rd but liked what I saw.
Savoie is fun and he just makes plays. Guys who just make plays in all 3 zones, feet always moving with his speed end up being dangerous.
Hall was hungry and moved nicely.
3 minutes in Vlasic with a big pinch all the way down to the dot along the wall, head up quickly in his zone when he got possession looking for an out. Kid looks very comfortable.
Smith was dangerous a few times. On a scoring challenged squad this guy has the ability to chip in.
Anderson did what he always does. Just. Makes. Plays.
Not sure what Martinez' high is but with the minutes he'll see and if tonight was any indication he's gonna score a few goals if he has some finish. 2 prime looks cuz he read nicely, came off the blueline, got to a loose puck and shot between the circles.
Just seeing legit NHLers in Brodie and Martinez makes you realize just how really bad the backend was last yr.
Spellacy knocked someone into the boards off camera, couldn't see it but you sure could hear it. Same shift Larkin with a dirty elbow to Spellacy's choppers drawing a penalty.. Tried to watch the kid off the puck and he wasn't too bad at all for only playing 26 hockey games in his life.
TT is what we thought he was. Damn nice to have that guy on the club. |

Book is still out on kk, I do have concerns though, who would have pick that year at seven? |

And they need to stop with the 1-4 setup on the power play. They don't have the puck control players to do it.
How many A++ chances do they have to give up on the PP, game after game, until this coaching staff scraps it and goes back to a traditional two defenseman PP???
And if it has to be one d-man, can it PLEASE be someone else than Seth Jones???
I thought Duncan Keith was a sieve at the blue line. Seth Jones is so much worse.

I would have been first, no thanks, might not like who they signed, but no way my head doesn't explode if they'd signed Gus, very much a Stan Bowman thing.

Let me clarify, please: I reported back in June that the Blackhawks see Kaprizov as a potential big add in two years, this generation's Marian Hossa, so to speak. Is Kaprizov intrigued by the possibility? Sure. Does he "want" it now? No. I misspoke extemporaneously on the pod. |

This may seem like a small thing but at least he was the one dman who could complete a pass out of the zone. How many icings did Vlasic have last night, its only preseason but damn man as a team if our passing is going to be this poor and freely give up possession half the time than it's going to be another long season.
I really would of liked to see Arty run the PP, damn foot injury. |

You know you really hurt your opinion of other players when you bring up things like I'd rather have Gus. |

I really like the kids last night that aren't going to make the big club.
I know it's only 1 preseason game i thought i saw a couple times Nazar having trouble handling the puck hope this does not become a trend |

I read it as Elbows would rather have Gus for one year than Brodie for 2. I kind of agree with him. He is right in that he would be the best to run the power play on the team currently.
I was blacked out and didn't see the game. But from reading articles and tweets, appears the game was nothing more than the veteran's trying to get their sea legs, and the bubble guys (Smith, Anderson) trying to prove they deserve a roster spot.
Also seems to be consensus that Nazer had a rough game, but had a good PK shift in the third, and still has some rope to make the squad. Speelcy continues to impress, but obvious he and Lardis are headed back to juniors at some point.
Anything else I should know from the game besides Ricco's observations?
