We should just call the season over, give the Leafs the cup and go straight to the draft. Chicago will draft 3rd. - rpeters01
Considering Ek has Kaprizov wanting to come to the Hawks, I second this motion. Maybe we can speed this thing up. |

After watching last night (and holding the torch for the kid almost since he was drafted), I think Reichel ends up like Hartman or Kubalik. He'll bounce around the league a little bit find a spot where he can be somewhat effective, but ultimately be a bit of a disappointment. I'm sure someone will point out in six years when he scores 20 goals that the Hawks gave up too soon, but there isn't really room for him anymore (as a part of the prospect pool). - Chunk
Zero shots last night. Even Spellacy had one shot. Right now he reminds me of Sharp without the offense and defense.

Woof. Can't imagine them starting October better than 4 and 7 and with out the developing kids reasons for losing can't imagine Luke has a job for very long. - fattybeef
I don't think Luke needs to worry. KD knew what he was doing when he signed over the hill players. He's still in tank mode without calling it that. Right now this team is built like the White Sox.

Korchinski should, Nazar hasn't been worse then Reichel but since there are waivers involved he won't.
Why would Crevier or Philips make the team when they haven't been very good. I guess maybe but they don't really need another stay at home guy with Martinez, Brodie and Murphy all on the roster.
Line two should be Hall, Nazar, Kurashev and let Nazar take his bumps now.
AA, Reichel, Donato, Smith and Anderson - it doesn't matter
Soderblom is probably fine for the first month.
Other than the Sharks twice - October is not especially kind. This season could start very ugly and they don't have the excuse of developing kids if they're going to punt some of these guys to Rockford. - fattybeef
This will take shape more once the season really gets going as well.
I think we've seen in the past even, the Hawks sometimes send guys down to the AHL and before the season starts or within the first few days they call them back up again, as things change, and injuries happen.
The roster right now and the roster come Xmas time might have a handful of differences depending how it plays out. Maybe if Reichel stumbles things change and he gets move and someone like Nazar comes back up. Or Slaggart or whomever.
I still wonder if Kurashev will be a long term piece for KD or if he might try to sell on him too down the road here.
I still think the endurance of the current D core is a question mark, that will be interesting to see. Phillips getting a shot probably, but the track record isn't good so far, so we'll see how that goes.
The good side is that there is healthy competition. Guys being sent down have a lot of people who feel they are ready, which speaks to how close they are to ready.
I have to think while he has some rope still, there will be more pressure on LR to get some progress from the team. If there isn't improvement over last year, would have to think LR's job is on the line, since it's touted how we've improved the personnel, however the improvement is not too huge. |

Yeah Reichel looked lost last night and most of last year. He was a number 17 pick, not even top 10, so I think most of the disappointment was due to over hype by our media and the boards. Imagine if we didn't have the upset over Edmonton in the play-in, we would maybe have Rossi, Perfetti, Askarov or Lundell! |

No they wouldn't, KD would of probably sold them off for future assets like he did with anyone else on the roster that was tradeable. Remember he sold off a #3 pick (Dach) for Nazer.

By no means disappointed and he hasn't been bad, but still waiting to see Bedard kind of kick things into gear here. Maybe it won't be until the season starts, but really want to see him get going and show that he can be that guy that could flirt with 90-100 points this season. You know, that youthful enthusiasm and just get going with being dangerous on the ice. Not criticizing how he played so far, just looking forward for him to hopefully get on a roll where he is dangerous shift after shift. |

Yeah I read that. Are the Cubs on cable? I see though they have a streaming service though. I'd like to see CHSN as a streaming service at least so I pay 20 a month rather than 170 via Comcast. |

Agree LA. My mind keeps on going back to those team-issued promo shots of Dach, Boquist and Nylander, who were expected to take the torch from Kane, Toews and Keith. |

NBCSN has been removed from my Comcast cable provider here in Springfield, IL.
I hope CHSN replaces it soon.
I do know there are still also a lot of Chicago Bulls fans here, as well as Blackhawks fans. |

I'm one of the dinosaurs with DirecTV. And I have the CenterIce package to boot so I could watch some good teams play each other, even when they are on the same time as the Hawks.

Based on jersey colors, Reichel and Athanasiou appear to be the forwards on the outside of the lineup. Brandon Baddock is still here, but it sounds like he's just an extra body to help in practice and will go to Rockford at some point. |

They could conceivably ice zero "rookies" to start the season.
I think the expectation in that environment is to be very competitive not get their ass beat.
Maybe they end up out kicking their coverage but man it could be another ugly year with nothing to look forward to unless Bedard is on the ice.
They got all these veterans to lead the youth and then the youth that matters they punted to Rockford. Its bizarre.
I guess figuring out if Allen is anything will be neat.

I think once they signed Brodie, they had determined that KK was more likely than not be starting the season in the A.
The Hawks gave Nazer every chance to win the job, but they felt he needed more seasoning.
I would rather KK and Nazer have some success in the A and get called up, then start and struggle with the big club, and have to be sent down.

I understand you want to be entertained, but if you are going to build a team to win i believe this is the best course of action. Many peoples immediate gratification will have to take a back seat to developing players.
Hate to break it to everyone but i believe this team will still be drafting in the top 5, if it was so easy to win by signing a few free agents everyone would be doing it. This season is a step closer season, KK and Arty at the Rock, the players who were at the rock time to either sink or swim.
I just don't believe there is one path to the NHL, there are many and KKs is just another example of it. |
