You’re right, but the fact of the matter is that they still need two young ones to make the roster besides Vlasic. If Korchinski goes to Rockford, then you have Kaiser and two guys to choose from that will have to go through waivers(Crevier/Phillips)if sent down. I still think that Phillips will get traded, maybe not before they break camp, but eventually. Martinez will get traded at the TDL, veteran defensemen with three cups are always desirable by contenders. Also, some of those vets will land on IR at some point during the season, that’s inevitable. - Angotti
The best case scenario should be that he improves to some degree like Vlasic did and that returning from an AHL stint KK would be stronger and more involved in physical play (particularly defending). If he is to play a regular shift we do not want a featherweight |

Why was Slaggert demoted? What the heck does he need to work on? Oh well maybe someone gets moved (Athensieu ?) by say Thanksgiving or Christmas and Slaggert returns |

Plain and simple, Slaggert is not waivers eligible, Smith and Anderson who have played just as well are. Also better to have Slaggert getting a lot of minutes in Rockford than 4th line/not dressing for games. LW has Bertuzzi, Hall, Foligno, Maroon probably penciled in 1-4 currently. |

Really should accept that there isn’t going to be an onslaught of youngsters playing NHL on Blackhawks until probably after the trade deadline. Whoever is recalled before the trade deadline is only filling in for an injury situation or a quick cup of coffee I do see rewarding or hastening development with an eye opening game or two. Thus helps a prospect see where he needs to improve and a real time experience if the NHL pace
It will be interesting to see how many veterans are moved at the deadline and whether a prospect on defense or Nazar can slide in and become impactful. I just don’t see a strong enough second offensive line but would like Reichel and or Nazar to get opportunity on a scoring line |

So Boqvist is penciled in to be a smaller, less physical Gus - Chunk
maybe a less good OEL would be a good outcome |

Why bother signing 2 old goats like Brodie and Martinez to go with Murphy and Jones if they thought any of their kid defenceman were actually ready for prime time and didn't need further development and playing tume?
If KK hadn't been a #1 - 7 OA I don't think this would even be a discussion. - RickJ
They brought the old guys in to kill penalties, and lock poop down when there's 10 mins left in the 3rd.
They also have 3 old guys who have averaged about 50 games \ year. So if Murphy gets hurt or Martinez goes down they still have at least one other guy who hopefully won't get injured so there isn't a situation of having 3 of your six defenders Tinordi, Menga and Crevier.
It should also keep the older guys fresh so if Luke wants to sit on a lead he's not worried about skating Martinez 22 mins cause he'll get the next night or two off. |

Yep, basically we had Zaitsev, Tinordi, Megna and upgraded a bit to Martinez/Brodie + Probably a young guy call up/ Murphy maybe staying health (but probably not)

Gee I wonder who will be the late man on the rusn
Obvious one line that will start the season is Foligno-Richardinson-Mikhalev
Looks like Bedard and Bertuzzi are tied at the hip, with the other winger still undecided. |

They're going to do everything they can to see if KK is going to make the squad. Not good that Kaiser isn't healthy enough to draw in. Sucks for him. He was supposed to be make a big push to make the team.
As much as I didn't think he was in the plans, Phillips has made a nice push this offseason. If he can keep the puck in front of him, he'll be a piece to use. |

We'll see what happens, but this may be Reichel's best/only opportunity to show the coaches what he's about this pre-season. |

Everyone talks about how well Reichel skates. Nobody ever talks about how well he shoots? Probably not a good thing. |

There isn't nearly as much tape on his shooting. |

Spellacy sure is getting a long look for a 3rd round pick this year. I know that he brings size and speed, but this is definitely very interesting. Is it crazy to think that he might just get a nine game look before he goes back to juniors? |

Also, will AA and Spellacy have to circle around the offensive zone a couple of times waiting on the late man? |

If anyone is looking for other capfriendly type sites detailing rosters, cap hits, etc , try capmehonest.com and thestanleycap.com (great name). The latter is still a work in progress. |

Damn, that's a lot of cheese - BetweenTheDots
Nothing better than negotiating through the media. If they didn't want to be in this position with Swayman, they should have negotiated the deal before trading Ullmark. |

It's like waiting for the "big man" to get down the court in basketball. |

The Blackhawks also hope to have some news on Wyatt Kaiser soon. Richardson sounded hopeful he’d be back on the ice in the near future.
Looks more and more like he will start the season on IR |

That's why KK, Phillips and Jones are playing on different pairs. Doesn't need to be a forward. |

Kind of hard for me to believe KK isn't on the team.
Playing big minutes, i don't really care one way or the other, but i'll be very surprised if he's sent to Rockford.
