Luchanko does appear to have high upside, if he can slow the game down in the O Zone, he could have a lid close to B Point, of course that is a big IF. Let him have more camp, going back will be good for him.


Ginning, I like his skillset, couple mistakes but he doesn't stop, he recovers. if we are all lucky there is a way to trade RR and Seeler mid-season.

Oskar Eklind. His skating looks behind and he tried to make too many junior plays. Especially trying to exit the zone. Trying to carry the puck out and getting stripped, instead of just chipping it to safety.

Jett has proven thus far that he is advanced for his age BUT another year of seasoning in Juniors and at WJC will be more of a benefit (IMO). At a "young" 18, he still has a lot to learn and should be brought about slowly. Get him some games at the end of the year. I understand if they give him 9 games at the start as a reward for a good camp or get him a taste of the NHL, but he needs to play in Junior this season.

I am still disappointed in Forester's skating ability. He still seems unsteady on his skates. It will affect his goal scoring as he has a tremendous shot. He will have to be set up for one timers as I don't believe he has the skating ability to create is own quality shots. Strong kid along the boards as well. If he figures the skating out, he will be even more dangerous.

Overall, it was okay. I know it's preseason but we needed strong goaltending again.

Any update on Kolosov? Is he here?

I have no idea what your comment even means. The point is that they are giving him a long look and perhaps thinking of giving him some regular season games, but I guess that slipped by you.

A new guy…a Swede they just signed….Eklind. He did look overwhelmed. The speed of the NHL is not something he has seen to be fair.

Two of the biggest areas that Luchanko has to work on is getting stronger on his skates when carrying the puck. When skating at full speed, the knock on him has been that he is easily knocked off the puck. The other is carrying and making plays with the puck more consistently at his highest skating speed. Using his speed more effectively. In my opinion, he has to develop that back in juniors, not in the NHL. He's going to be a good player for the Flyers in my opinion.

Foerster’s skating isn’t pretty but in the end he gets around ok. It has gotten better. I keep thinking of how ugly Hartnell’s skating was. I keep hoping Forester develops a bit more of a nasty streak as he becomes more comfortable out there.

Because it's the Flyers. They want to show everyone how smart they are when they passed on Buium.

He clearly stated he wouldn't do it if he were the Flyers.

I don’t think anyone disagrees with this. Let him have a chance to go dominate and build his confidence back in Guelph. I must admit it’s nice to see him come in and actually be in the discussion for the team. He’s further along than I thought and I’m sure the Flyers thought.

That whole line looked like they were moving at "AHL" speed both in decision making and skating.

JL has to go back. I wouldn’t even give him the nine games. At 18 he may be strong and in physically top notch shape but he will be playing against fully grown men who are stronger and also in top shape.
Nothing against Jett but it’s just biology.
Let him mature and grow into his body.
MM may only be a year older but that is with more experience playing against older guys.

I thought Ginning was poor, and won't be needed unless there's an injury.

Ya…the decision making always stands out…I remember how slow Hayes looked, but he was able to make smart plays…his smarts made up for his lack of foot speed.

I agree. It's about what I expected to see. A talented player but young and not ready. I think there is far more hype than reality in terms of him being ready to play in the NHL

He didn’t earn anything. He had a strong camp. He’s a prospect, send your prospect back to junior to develop.

Luchenko should go back to juniors but rewarding him for a strong camp with a small dample size of nhl games is fine. You dont even need to keep him for the full 9. Let him play real games and see where hes at.

The theory or idea of "rewarding" a player with games towards a 9 game trial is absurd. With a player like Luchanko as young as he is. The only reason in my opinion to use a 9 game trial is if you're on the fence about whether he is ready or not. Using NHL regular season play as a final determiner.

Luchanko with 18+ minutes of ice time. That was second among forwards behind TK. Hmmm...

He held his own against the Islanders top defense pairing, but he really couldn't generate a lot offensively. He played well overall and did some nice work on the PK. Overall I'm glad he is getting some games but in the end Luchanko needs another year in the minors. Then next year I would be shocked if didn't make the team.

Andrae and Ginning need a longer look.

Andrea is definately ready. Ginning started out well in the game but as the game went on and the Islanders applied more and more pressure, Ginning made some bad decisions. Grans was solid, but just doesn't do enough for me to be excited about him.
