Xhekaj made the hit on Stutzle only because Greig was refusing every invitation he was getting... I understand the logic but personally I just wish these dangerous blindside hits didn't happen at all, concussions are an ugly thing and shouldn't be part of the game. - Pat1993
Agreed 100% ... it has no place in the game, it can end a player's career and severely affect them physically.
However, a response of this kind was necessary in this case considering we had also lost Laine in the preceding game on a questionable play. The Habs players were already mad about this one, the Grieg head hunting hit made them seek revenge. Human nature 101.
This puts the other teams on notice that if you take liberties with our players you will have to pay a price for it.
PS: Reinbacher's injury was purely accidental though. |

I agree abut the nature of the hit... hit clean, hit hard.
As for WiFi and putting people on notice.. he has to learn when to pick his moments. If he constantly puts his team on the 5 minute penalty kill or gets kicked out of games, he really is not helping.
Look at the clock. Look at the score.. Look at the situation of the game.
That is what pisses me off the most about WiFi..

Greig calls Xhekaj hit on Stützle 'dirty'
Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig said he thought Arber Xhekaj's hit on teammate Tim Stützle was "dirty." “A dirty play, the league will handle that," Greig said Wednesday following Tuesday's fiery pre-season game against the Montreal Canadiens.

well, as you're implying, context is definitely important, and considering all this dumb poop is happening in pre-season, it doesn't really matter if he did get kicked out of games... if this poop happens during the regular season or playoffs, then it's a different story.

I think if he is not learning in pre-season, we will see a repeat in regular season.
That is my opinion, but we will see.
Someone needs to sit his ass down and have a talk w/ him about this poop.

personally I think he's fully aware that this is all silly for pre-season, but we'll see what happens during the regular games as you're saying, and very soon, starting with Toronto. |

I'm sure he (frank)ed a couch or two in his lifetime, especially a pretty young one just off the showroom floor.
