Wow, I had no idea.
Sadly, as a long distance runner, I have to diminish the accomplishments of sprinters.
It sucks having no fast-twitch muscles in my entire body. |

Well as a hockey player my sprints are petty good.
But 1500m? That's long distance to me.

MonkeyPunk : how is your buddy down in Siesta Key? I saw a video from there today that was pretty scary. 2m of water flowing through somebody's living room and all of the streets were under water.

Thanks for asking. About a couple of hours before you posted that, he told us in a group chat, "No power, no water. But still have booze and ice. What a f’in mess. Roads are still flooded and bridges to the island are closed to residents only." He hasn't commented since, but I'm guessing that's to conserve power.
He has a grill, meat, veggies, and booze. My guess is he's fine.
Judging by what I see now - they have this live cam on the beach by his condo - https://www.youtube.com/live/NLhxcyzXQxM - it looks like power is back up and while the camera lens is nearly impossible to see through, I think I see beach instead of water. Two days ago the water level was at the deck level of the lifeguard chairs on the beach.

Glad they're OK.
A lot of people didn't evacuate, including Lightning center Cirelli. From the Twatter :
"Anthony Cirelli, who lives on Davis Islands, tells me he was worried about his safety so he evacuated from his home with his new dog, Max, in a canoe that was captained by a neighbor.
Cirelli and Paul had Atkinson drive them to practice this morning.
“He has pretty big Jeep. I think, actually, most of it was underwater so I'm surprised it even started this morning. He was nice enough to trek through the river that was my street to come and grab me so I could make it here for the practice. In good spirits, thankful that everyone was safe, and hope everyone out there looked after themselves. There are bigger things than hockey sometimes so praying for everyone out there that everyone is OK”
Apparently Cam Atkinson drives a lifted Jeep and drove Cirelli and Nick Paul to practice after the storm. |
