They haven't had a 40 goal scorer in 30 years and the last 100 point player was 40 years ago. Their definition of star player may be skewed - PlatosRepucklic

There’s nothing short ‘a dyin’
That’s half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleepin’ city sidewalk
And Sunday morning coming down

Just my two cent on the Laine hit:
It's unfortunate because you never want to see talented players hurt by an AHL plug in a preseason game.
Paré probable moved by reflex because he had no other way to stop Laine. It's not like he WANTED to hurt Laine. The result is terrible but it's the kind of plays that happen in hockey. Should have been a penalty, it wasn't called. Xhekaj lost his poop and I don't blame him. - Scabeh
I think PK does a great job explaining it here-

At this stage in his career, JT should be playing wing, but the lack of center depth might make it necessary to keep him at C. - GalacticStone
lol he’s still not going to be the potential call up from the Marlies once a C gets hurt.
Injuries of C in the middle of the season will hurt the leafs, won’t be shocked if a move is made this season to increase their depth there. |

the "where's the respect for superstars" part is bullpoop, the level of respect should be the same for anyone on the ice.
that being said I do think the injury could've been avoidable, in that Paré should've toned it down on that play. intent isn't measurable so obviously we can't say he was actually aiming to injure Laine but Paré is still responsible for his own actions. |

The bolded is the realm where Marchand exists and takes advantage of it.

agreed, but when there's a clear pattern and it happens over and over again then the intent becomes a bit more obvious... you know what to expect from that little douche. |

Punching with gloves on is a no no for sure. The reinforcement in the thumb area can do serious damage. This makes hockey gloves unlike boxing gloves. Like slew footing an opponent, it's not called often. - winsix
I played against a guy in Intermediate B…his name was Claude Roy. He was the king of using the thumb guard as a weapon. Effin guy was a psycho. |

So I am guessing that we will be seeing a Topi Neimala trade out of Toronto soon..
Clearly he is not a Berube type of guy.. Arguably the Leafs top D prospect and no Pre season games |

Pass from Calgary, and wouldnt want Kadri, plus he is injured too. I'd say package those three and go after a decent 2nd line LW. Use JT at 3C. I'd also put Dewar on wing and let Holmberg and Lorentz match up on opponent for 4C

If Calgary passes on that package for an injured Kadri, how do the leafs get a decent 2nd line LW for it? 🤔
Not sure that can go both ways. |

Its more you want them taking Kampf''s money and eat 2 mil. We get a broken aged Kadri back and lose our d and wing depth on top of it? Robertson and Lily aren't bad but don't see why Calgary wants Kampf at that cost AND eat salary.
Never understood the Kadri crush people had and still have.
Wingers are easier to get than quality centers too |
