Fwiw, Halak did get a lower sv% and higher GAA after leaving Boston, it just wasn't a crazy drop off. He also went to Boston after a down year on the Island and regained form for a couple years (at 33 years of age).
For the most part, Boston's system does historically get the most out of tenders. That being said, their rein of supremacy may be over...so who knows. - QuinnFan
Definitely a very tender friendly system.
Ullmark on the Sabres was average. On the bruins he turned elite and won a vezina.

Vezina year is the outlier. Consistently above average, including his time in Buffalo. |

Think we all know the UPL story. I've defended and poked at him at times. He had a good half season, but that's all he has to hang his hat on in the last 4 seasons. Swayman has been stellar at every step. I think he's a much safer bet. At that cheap of a trade cost, I wouldn't even hesitate.
On the topic, what are reasonable UPL expectations this year? 10 GSAA last year. Is that a fair expectation, or are you expecting better? I think Levi is going to play well enough to take time away from him. - Lunaion
I'd counter by saying UPL's numbers were for the full year, and Swayman wasn't far off. However, I do agree he's a safer bet. Think it really depends on whether or not you want to go all in on one goalie for that long, with the caveat that you may be trading a much similar, cheaper player, with add ons, back to a rival. There's pros and cons both ways.
Have to expect in Ruff's system, he does that well or better. I also believe Levi is going to be the best of the three in the long run (hot take I know). But some rest for UPL should help, not hurt, so still think he can repeat. How about you? Think he comes back down to a mediocre .900 sv%? |

Yeah, have to give Ullmark credit as he figured it out. It just took him a bit and was short lived, so he doesn't get credited for doing anything here. |

fitz for years argued miller was great and then throws the same number from ulllmark as average
6k who is horrible had a better gaa last year than miller in his career and I am pretty sure we all agree our d was blah at best in their own end

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that forwards Josh Dunne, Mason Jobst and Brett Murray, defensemen Colton Poolman and Jack Rathbone and goaltender Felix Sandstrom have cleared waivers and have been assigned to the Rochester Americans (AHL). - Lunaion

Would you offer a 2nd, 2026 4th and Elam for Adams ? |

If you want to talk games last year, I'd count the playoffs and Swayman was great.
I still believe goalies aren't that predictable and UPL is more likely to revert closer to average than improve. Part of why I value Swayman's consistency and highlight UPL's inconsistency.
I think Levi is the more talented of the 2 and will likely be the better of the two at times this year. Figuring out how to get the best out of them is a big key to the season.

If you're going to go through this retool, you have to come out younger.

Bills have a lot of Youth, kinda hurting them right know. His contract isn't Guaranteed after this Year and Elam gets them closer with the Cap. I highly doubt it happens but he's still a game changer and it keeps him away from KC and the Jets |

Still don't think they are going for it this year. It doesn't make sense and they aren't set up to do it.
Stick with plan, upgrade WR at the draft and in the offseason.

torn
why get rid of diggs to do this
I think in the end, they moved on from diggs and others to have cap space when they open the new stadium, not to have an old adams playing for the bills
if he was a rental, sure for pennies on the dollar |

I think they set it up to cut him after the season, right? - Lunaion
Maybe 1 more year? You’re probably right though. He’s kinda shot and now the off field stuff too.
It was near impossible to cut Von prior to the restructuring for sure. |

I’d worry about Josh throwing more picks if we get a #1 target that requires the ball a lot.
Alla Diggs…
Adams though is a true elite guy and your offer seems fair. |

You are clueless. Ullmark was above average on awful teams here its not even a debate
Still waiting for how many wins you think 6K gets since you said ruff will make this team good or much better. He had 27 wins last season in case you needed a reminder

Absolutely not.
He’s 32 and next year age 33 has a 44 million dollar cap hit.
Beane didn’t just clear out all that cap space just to give it to Adams next year |
