Thanks for the new blog and agree on it all.
AHL and bubble players gave it a good go against vet heavy Oil team.
Sticking with Raty for making the starting line up.
Lakinen showed well. May start against Flames even if Silovs gets call for last pre-season game Friday. Weak spot penalty shots lol. |

My buddy asked me which Canucks would be good sleeper picks for fantasy, and which goalie will get the majority of starts with Demko out. I had to just shrug, everything to do with this roster is clear as mud right now
I did say Debrusk would make a good pickup since he'll likely be playing with Petey/Miller + PP1 |

York Newbury: Canucks Preseason Notes - York Newbury
“ It’s a time when the fringe guys are giving it their all and the top end guys are just trying to find their timing – and trying not to get hurt. Not the best to judge players too much”
Sorry but you are wrong on this, this is the perfect time to overreact, I’ve read Miller is hurt, can’t play and Petey is washed up at 11.6 because he hasn’t scored in preseason games. The season outlook is bleak I tell you, preseason is the time for all established NHL players to shine and Tocchet to show how dominant his coaching and team is, just like the Oilers main team did last night, big failure.
Oh it’s really tough being a Canuck fan in preseason, |

What’s your over under on Canucks keeping extra healthy forward or rolling with 12 and waiving PDG and Aman? |

Thanks El Yorko. It's been a while since we've gone into a season with some expectations. Curious to see how this group does now that they're back on the league's radar. |

I don't think they would waive Aman, they seem to like him too much. Pizza boy, as much as I like him, yeah imagine he gets waived cause somebody will probably have to be ... a guy like Sherwood may cause them to be willing to lose him. |

lol, it was dripping in sarcasm after reading the overreaction about Miller and perception on how to run preseason hockey tryouts.
I was pretty impressed how 4 “B” level NHLers and a bunch of AHL players held the mighty full squad powerhouse Oilers to a shootout. |

It's a nice change of pace for sure. Not only external expectation, but internal ones too. I think that's a reason why they aren't pushing the vets in preseason: there's a lot of consistency from last year and they don't need those games to establish the same relationships and systems. They're honing that at an elevated pace in practice. |

For me it's not about pushing vets, more about getting some chemistry. That third line was great out the gate last year and they won't have any semblance of that until Josh is back. Also, D pairing chemistry. Seeing Soucy & Desharnais live didn't give me much confidence and highlights I've seen of Desharnais haven't impressed either. As much as we hate to admit, Zadarov leaves a big hole. He carried Myers to a level not seen previously and just throwing a couple budget big bodies like Desharnais & Frobert doesn't necessarily mean a seamless fit. Ideally I'd like them to have started establishing the back-end a little sooner. I get trying to get the young guys in a couple games to start, but I think most are are at least a year or two away and no jobs seem to be legitimately up for grabs this year.
It is nice to have the season last year to build off no doubt, but with great expectations comes great responsibility! |

With Juulsen and PDG wearing letters last night, I believe we Jae seen who the 7th defenseman and 13th forward will be. |

That's odd because Myers played far more minutes with Soucy and Cole and had much better stats with them. The 44% Corsi he posted with Zadorov is his 2nd worst aside from a super small sample size with Hronek. |

Pdg was put on waivers.
Bains and Raty still on the big squad. So far. |

Waivers - PDG, Smith, Wolanin, Patera
Sent down - Karlsson, Lekkerimaki, Mueller, Sasson, Felton, McWard, Kudryavtsev, DPetey, Tolopilo
IMO Raty has surpassed Aman and Bains |

I agree, very much looking like Raty makes the team at this point |
