You only say that because you got sucked in. Adblock is free.

I know. My alt uses it. I just felt like for the amount of entertainment I get from this site, 20 bucks a year is a pittance. I'm OK with supporting the upkeep. It works out to 38 cents a week.

Well, free fantasy games and a rumour chart. The perks are outstanding.
Also, your $20 didn't help with the 19 hour site shutdown a couple of weeks ago. Keep convincing yourself it was money well spent.

First look at what actual line ups will be to start the season:

After a deep round of cuts Tuesday, #Canucks lined up as follows at practice Tuesday:

Heinen-Miller-Boeser
DeBrusk-Pettersson-Sprong
Höglander-Blueger-Garland
Bains-Åman-Sherwood
Extra: Räty

Hughes-Hronek
Soucy-Myers
Forbort-Desharnais
Friedman-Juulsen

Absent: Suter, Hirose

One would think Bains and Raty get sent down once Joshua and Sutter are back... but good for them to start the year on the big team.

Thanks for these!

I don't love Garland and Hoglander together, no matter how tenacious they are feels like angry elves should be spread out.

I hope Juulsen makes a push to get into top 6. I know he gets himself out of position for the big hit sometimes but I've been thoroughly underwhelmed by Desharnais.

Maybe you don't, but I spend 38 cents a week on far more useless stuff. I'm not one to tell others how to use their income. But like I said, I get more than my money's worth weekly. Shutdowns included.

So nobody got displaced or outworked in camp?

This is why I always smile when I hear/read about a coach saying guys are fighting for jobs in training camp. Horse poop. The roster you posted is the exact same roster most in here posted mid-summer. Injuries are the only cause of some minor changes.

Both Bains and Amon will be waived/traded as soon as Joshua and Suter are back.

Desharnais has been fantastic in the preseason. Played number one minutes last game against a vastly superior opponent and they didn’t generate Jack sh!t. The majority of their offence was when Juulsen was on the ice. Safe to assume you didn’t watch

PDG got pizza'ed down to the AHL.

I mean the team didn't have many spots open on their roster, but guys definitely fought for the depth jobs. Management has a balancing act of the cap (they don't want to go to LTIR which could impact how many people they carry) which affects decisions, but once guys get hurt the call ups are/were definitely on the line.

Raty made his impression. Lekker too. Karlsson, who played in the playoffs, faded a bit. Plus the depth D callups made their mark:

Among the other notable cuts, Elias Pettersson (the defender) and Kirill Kudryavtsev were cut on Tuesday but earned praise from Tocchet for their performance and ability to handle pressure. Pettersson looked like the higher-upside blue-line prospect, and by a considerable margin, throughout camp, but Kudryavtsev looked more NHL-ready. It wouldn’t be a shock to see either player slot into the NHL lineup at some point this season, but Kudryavtsev in particular made a case to be the first lefty call-up throughout camp and the preseason.

I did miss last game but caught the previous two ... one live against Calgary. Desharnais and Soucy didn't look very good together. That said, Desharnais seemed to be distracted by that big Klapna guy from Calgary and caught between fighting him or just chasing him around after Hirose got heavily boarded. Can't blame him too much for not fighting though, that Klapna guy was just as tall as him and twice as thick!

Raty emerging is a great thing for our depth down the middle. I'm still not sold on our D depth. It thins out pretty quickly if any of our top 4 get injured.

Oh definitely great Raty is pushing up the charts. Plus the fact he can take draws right handed is needed.

Ya, the top 4 needs to stay healthy. Would be great if Willander was a couple years older... oh well. I have a feeling they'll be trading for a top 4 D man at some point this season, probably before Christmas. Andersson would be ideal but costly.

Apparently with the additional recent injuries they will start with LTIR. That’s why, per RT, PDG got waived as he makes less then the others they kept to max the LTIR of Poolman.

Plus by using LTIR to start they can paper JL to clear his bonuses for a later call. Some cap gymnastics to start the season. Then we will see if they go back to accruing later if they got a healthy roster.

Didn't hear boo about Mcward this year ... last year seemed to be in line as the second coming to Tanev for Hughes

Raty is another testament the development plans are working under new management and coaching.

Having more developed players means more value and depth. Which also allows to move roster players, as well, so as to make trades like the top 4 D man need.

McWard was injured off season. Did not play at all. He seems to be cleared now cause they assigned him to Abby.

Raty looked so good against Flames, felt like an NHL'er. Really improves look of that Horvat trade if he pans out.

While Andersson would be nice, I don't think I can stand shipping more picks/prospects to the shames!

He’s a west coast kid, Demko and that midget Garland for Swayman.
