If there are 6 people ahead of you in a race, what position are you in? - NorthNuck
But two of them are tied with the same odds, perhaps you’re unaware that constitutes a tie…they are treated as one. The pie chart is about odds, not how many teams.
Have you seen the schedule? Predominately east coast teams, only Chicago and Calgary in the west. Seven east coast teams. - bloatedmosquito
I honestly hadn't looked at schedule. Just meant as a general statement - last year such low (or at least unclear) expectations and not many even had nucks in playoffs. After last years surprise regular season and solid playoff effort, they won't be taken lightly. Hopefully we can stack some points early against those east coast teams. I see now that we get the Flyers outta the way early.

I’m actually shocked that you like tochett as he was a hard nosed player. A bit rough around the edges for your liking. But I agree he is a beauty - CanuckDon
You wouldn’t remember this, because you’re a young punk, but those mid 70’s and 80’s Flyers teams were both skilled and tough. They’re why I became a Flyers fan.
Those Red Wing teams, when they were battling Colorado, were fun to watch as well, back when hockey was hockey.
No, the Canucks are tied for the 7th best odds. I literally took statistics classes in university
It doesn't (frank)ing matter, but it's crazy to accuse someone of being uneducated when you're so obviously wrong - NorthNuck
So tell me this, why, in your mind, are the Canucks tied with Tampa with 5.6% odds for 7th place but Colorado and Carolina are 5th and 6th but their odds are also tied at 7.6%?
You’re trying to have it both ways to support your argument. They’re the same thing. Edmonton is first at 12%, Dallas is second at 9.8%, Florida is third at 7.9%, Carolina & Colorado are tied for fourth at 7.6%, NYR’s are fifth at 6.7% and Vancouver & Tampa are tied for sixth at 5.6%.

It’s not that difficult. - Pacificgem
Colorado and Carolina are not 5th and 6th, they're tied for 4th.
I don't know how else to explain it to you that I haven't already, so here is ChatGPT's answer
I really don't care enough to keep going back and forth, just let it go man
There are six teams with better odds, I’m not disputing that, what I’m trying to relay to him is the Canucks are tied with the sixth best odds to win the Cup at 5.6%. The number of teams ahead of them and their odds to win the Cup are two separate things.

Oh, I get what you’re doing, you’re treating it like it’s a standings equation, or a rankings, which it isn’t. You’re omitting a spot like what would happen in a league standings position. You’re still wrong, they’re tied for the 6th best odds.

I blame my Apple iPad keyboard, watching the morning news and finger typing on this thing isn’t always conducive to correct spelling or punctuation. Statistically speaking, NN is correct, because there are six teams ahead of the Canucks and Tampa they would get 7th place in a rankings systems, but the pie chart isn’t a rankings, it’s simply giving odds to win the Cup. It’s semantics.
I was having a conversation with a friend when I was up in Ontario last month, I had a dual sim Huawei mobile phone when I came back from working overseas, it was great, I bought it in Dubai, but it had issues over here so I switched to Apple products because everyone else in my family had iPhones. Apple keyboards aren’t that intuitive.
