And a call up option. That's it. - MJL
Saw him the other night and he can fly out there but I don't think he is a FT option in the NHL.

You're getting caught up in a pre season trap. Richard's is not a full time NHL player. - MJL
He is a tweener. I think he could produce a bit at the NHL level….but not from the 3rd or 4th line. |

Why did Buium drop that far in the first place? Most mock drafts had him between 6 and 8ish. I think Button had him at 8. He was as high as 5th in the spring. Must be some concerns there. - 26912 PP
Just the way the draft fell. Buium has top pairing potential and was a higher rated player than Luchanko. That's who the Flyers should've taken.

He is a vet that you can call up in case of injuries short term. NHL depth and a really good AHL player.

I think they move him in the right scenario, but prob does not make sense unless you get a 2nd rounder+. We have no idea what was really offered for him in the past. These reporters are hacks these days. Also, there is no rush to trade anyone right now unless they get an offer for Risto... - 26912 PP
they have shown zero nada none no inclination to move him. When are you and others going to accept this? |

I know it is preseason but man I continue to be dumbfounded that this team needs Laughton and Peohling in the same lineup. I feel Laughton has done nothing and I actually enjoy watching Richard's speed. Could he be a fit in the bottom 6 and you move Laughton.
Also seeing some teams be hit with injuries on the back end(LA) I wonder if Risto becomes and option from someone. - J35Bacher
They like Laughton, for better or worse, as one of the leaders… they want a guy like that to show others about how to be a pro. My question is how many of those guys do you need? There are 6 better wingers and two better C’s …maybe 3? I see a value in a guy like Laughton….but not over a kid like Brink…or a Farabee the guys that look to be 3rd line W’s.
Torts just called Risto to having one of the best camps from the entire group in his press conference. |

Exactly as expected. Andrae was a player that Briere mentioned as a reason as to why they didn't draft Buium. Andrae is so good that he won't make the team. Flyers are gonna Flyer. - MJL
he hasn't played better than his competition. does that factor in at all? |

Probably.
I like his speed.
Probably also has to do with I just don't feel like I don't need a team with Laughton, Peohling and Cates all on the roster.

I think there's some concern about Fedotov. He's looked just OK -- no more than that -- on the ice so far.
Lycksell will make the team if they carry 14 forwards on the opening roster (assuming Luchanko does not get the 9-game stint).
Andrae has has a good camp overall but with York and Drysdale as locks (and Andrae being waiver exempt), he won't make the roster. - bmeltzer
I think when Drysdale gets hurt…he’s the 1rst call up. |

Its preseason, non of the regulars are going 100%. Its just about getting in game shape. Only guys going 100% are the ones with something to prove.
Laughton is a good 3rd line C. Flyers Keep him because there is no one better right now. Luchenko will take his spot within the next 1-2 years. The question then is does he become a 4th line or get moved. Also Richard is not better.
People keep going on about Briere not moving Laughton for a 1st but that was 100% a rumour and not confirmed. I doubt anyone offered a 1st for a guy like Laughton - xShoot4WarAmpsx
laughton/cates as the 3rd line center and the team is the same. no better no worse.
Laughton bleeds new era of orange. he is a fixture in that room. Can you imagine what negative effect it would have if he is traded, he is all culture.
players dont want him moved and the co-gm said he is invaluable. |

your opinion on Laughton, by all accounts he didn't add much value last season (except PK), add you have Ryan P and it seems redundant and you are holding an asset and blocking a younger player. How do you see it? Will Laughton bounce back? - wcorvette
bounce back to what? he is what he is, a 30 something point player. |

At this point I go with upside of both Poehling and Cates over Laughton. It’s what a “so called” rebuilding team should and would do. |

You have to wonder when the right time will be for the Flyers to move on from Laughton? Is there a situation where he actually is seen as expendable by this organization….I thought it was a year and half ago. |

If Fedotov flames out, I guess they can just waive and demote him and bring up Kolosov.
Would be classic Flyers to have an AHL goaltending tandem making over 8 million!
Re Laughton, he is not an effective 3C and is not a top 9 player on a contending team. Laughton is good 4th line forward who can fill in on the 3rd line in a pinch and kill penalties. Poehling is basically the same at half the price.
If you can get a 2nd for Laughton you take it. And, if DB really turned down a late 1st for him, he should be fired. |

In theory I agree but personally, I don't think Poehling has much upside and Cates only has it if they return him to wing in the top 9.

Exactly who are the Flyers playing Thursday night….The Devils had their 1rst practice in Europe this morning. Pretty sure they won’t have a league mandated amount of NHL guys playing in that one.
pretty sure those min veteran restrictions are for the home team to throw a bone to the season ticket holders who are forced to pay for that nonsense - 26912 PP
Torts says flyers will dress lehigh and other players, maybe a couple of actual starters. |

I think Laughton can be a top 9 player on a contending team. He is capable of putting up decent numbers at ES and can play on the PK. As well as the intangibles he brings. He's the kind of depth contending teams need. Which is why they should trade him for the right offer. Agree on the latter comments.

How is Laughton not effective? He had 39 points last season. Laughton's biggest issue last season was the defensive side.
