doesn't matter, what is there to gain by saying that publicly? is it going to "light" a fire under him? I also would bet that when they did talk to him they didn't say exactly what torts said to the media.
comments like that I am sure have the players in that airtight best locker room in the world saying what a jerk off.
agree with bonk. don't think he goes straight to the nhl right away unless he takes a huge leap. which is fine. - hello it's me 2050
I agree here, I would have preferred Torts keep his Drysdale comments to himself. It has got to be impacting Drysdale when your coach tells everyone you don't know what you are doing out there. |

they are a tool just not a be all end all like some suggest. they can be misleading if just looking at those without watching game play. - hello it's me 2050

I see Bonk getting a year or two in the AHL before becoming an NHL regular. Not a bad thing but I agree he is not close to NHL ready. I am fine with that timeline. - mickel25
Me too. D is a very hard position to jump right into at the NHL level. Again, no need to rush. |

Both should've been sent back already then. Neither was going to make the team. - MJL
I think they wanted to show the young guys what it is to be a professional. They see what they have to work on. They see the process …is a great learning experience. Theses guys are a big part of their future. Missing a few OHL games ain’t going to hurt them. |

That's what iv been saying, why not give them a 3 to 9 game taste of what the nhl season is all about, so when we do send them back, they will have a bigger understanding of what's ahead.

it will make him play a "safe" game and not utilize his strengths. is that what they want? |

unless he is going to make the team no need to play the 9 games. these 9 games can be misleading in any direction as well.
will it hurt him no or at least it shouldn't. he pretty much needs to work on everything to be a productive nhl player. that is not a knock or a negative. he got his taste by playing preseason games. |

Torts does have his ways…perhaps the comment was made to tamp down fan expectations for a player that was traded for one of their few “potential star level” prospects?
As far as Bonk, Torts touched on it the other day. His skill level and traits are above NHL caliber. But the speed aspect of decisions will need time to develop. |

I wouldn’t keep him for 9 games either…end it on a good note. He had an eye opening camp and has all the chances in the world to develop into a above average NHL player. Now let him get back to his Jr team and get to work. |

the comment was made because torts is a jerk off in many cases. he enjoys that aspect of tearing someone down. that is my take.
that makes it worse for fan expectations to me. trading a 5th overall for a guy who can't play.
I also dont trust torts scouting when it comes to dman .....peeps just need to temper expectation with bonk. I do not see a top pair potential as some have said. he turns into a good 4/5 so be it. you need those as well. |

bottom line is, has he really made a strong case he should be on the roster? |

He just seems a tad over matched in the last couple of games. No need to kill his confidence…I’d end it on a positive note…just my outside opinion of course. |

What were the Flyers faceoff numbers like on special teams last night? Let's get off of Frost and talk about the team as a whole. The Flyers' special team faceoff % last night was aweful, I don't even have to check it. - jd250
They went 2-2 on the PP. 1-3 SH. At ES they cleaned the Bruins clock at the dot.
Of all the ways they were completely outplayed it's weird that you are harping on FOs.

I don't really get the fatigue excuse. They were completely off on Sunday and many of the players that played last night didn't play Monday night. Makes no sense to me. If this team looks like last night come the regular season Torts will do something to get fired by Christmas. - Phillywhiteout They flew in day of game. NHL teams almost never do that. Entire team looked exhausted. Something was up. Positives Goaltending and Michkovs high hockey iq (again). Negatives Selke and Drysdale looked terrible. The Flyers are no longer a dump and chase team and actually have some speed now. This is not the Bobby Clarke team coming out of the lockout with Rathje. Not saying there are the 87 Oilers, but I don't see their 5v5 play as an issue in general. |

So I tried to draft MM last night in my fantasy league. Someone jumped on him before I could and drafted in the 8th round. Really disappointed in that. I did take Cutter in the 13 round. I hope he is a good as he thinks he is. |

- Tomahawk 60% on draws which is nuts. However, is there a stat on special teams faceoffs? |
