York is a solid player who still has room to grow. A team needs two PP units. I'm not big on York on the PP but there is a spot for him or whomever claims the spot. I think York is going to be a solid 2nd pair NHL defenseman, he actually is already or possibly a compliment to a true #1, which of course the Flyers don't have. - MJL
I could see York's final form being something like Matt Niskanen. |

I’m on record of saying that to me, it really doesn’t matter where Jett Luchanko plays in October. I stand by this. Of course this was before pre season. In my opinion, kid has to be sent to juniors right now. His best game was against the capitals over a week ago. Beyond that, not much to show. Now I think the biggest concern among fans is whether or not Luchanko is staying because he should go but Torts seems to love Jett. In fact, Jett Luchanko might be the only center Torts likes. I don’t think Torts likes Frost or Coots. |

The NHL discussing reducing the pre-season by 2 games and adding 2 games to the regular season to make 84. I think this is a horrible idea. There are already too many regular season games, and with the ridiculous playoff format we are playing hockey almost to July! I'm fine with having less pre-season games, but I would like the regular season to have no more than 80 games, start at the beginning of Oct and end in March. Then April and May are the playoffs and Final. It's the perfect window for the hockey playoffs anyway, March Madness ends, baseball isn't in full gear yet and the NBA playoffs don't get interesting until June. Plus a few less games in the regular season just makes the playoffs that much better. Greed is killing pro-sports IMO. |

The kid is 22 years old and has just started playing pro hockey. Are you kidding me with this ridiculous comment? Defense is the hardest position in hockey to learn and play. Hunter will develop nicely this year in LHV and will challenge for a 3rd pairing spot next year. All Jones said is he liked the kid, how is that overhyping? How can anyone possible overhype a 6th round pick?? |

Petersen waived - WhiskeyMan
Do you think the Flyers can get some video of Petersen dancing at a wedding and terminate his contract also? No one is picking this stiff up. |

This is a big year for Farabee. We have to keep in mind that despite coming back from neck surgery where he lacked sufficient off season training, AND had some prolonged slumps, he still set career highs in goals, assists, and points. - MBFlyerfan
Torts doesn't seem to like him either. That will be something else Bee will need to overcome this season. My problem with Bee is I'm not sure what he does exceptionally well. Most of his goals are scored due the great plays of his linemates, not because of some great play of his own. I thought Bee showed promise in the PP bumper spot this pre-season. Perhaps if his shot is accurate they can try him there and see how it goes. |

Jonesy did kind of make it sound that this kid was above a lot of other prospects. After watching him I saw a kid that still is a ways away. You are correct D can take some time. Some never really put it all together…ie Ronnie Attard. Colour me unimpressed with MacDonald. He does have the tools and a physical mindset that I don’t see in any other prospect. |

- goalie is harder.
- how do you know he will develop "nicely"? you hope he does. based on the flyers track record of developing dman the odds are against him.
- they talk about him every chance they get. it is funny as hell. if he was with another team he probably doesn't even get mentioned let alone talked about being in the nhl. of which I still say he will never ever be a top 6 dman. because t is the flyers he will probably get a few games as they love that player profile, skill be damned. |

I mean, look at tonight's game. Folks are paying full freight for tickets to that AHL matchup? The physical sports only need a few tune up games. The NFL has learned. I also agree that the season needs to start earlier and that the Cup should be handed out by Memorial Day. Not gonna happen though. I mean, you have the 4 nation tournament in season this year and then next year the league will shut down for the Olympics. Hello almost July hockey again! Yikes! |

Just because Farabee isn’t a star, doesn’t mean he’s not a very, very good complimentary player. He produces….he see’s the ice very well. To me he’s a perfect guy to play with a guy like Michkov…a shame they both shoot left. To me Farabee is an above average player in this league. That’s why I think the Flyers will be a bit better then most are predicting…he’s one of about 6 W’s that are not star quality but are above average or heading in that direction. |

Honestly the NHL season should start at the beginning of September. Playoffs…April to May. Playing hockey even in June doesn’t seem right to me. |

If looking to see what a player does exceptionally well to judge the player, well then that eliminates pretty much every player on the team. Do you realize that. There is not a single player on the team who does anything exceptionally well. Now that we dealt with that, we can move on to the rest.
You repeatedly make claims like in the above when it comes to players you don't like. Do you have any data or evidence to support your opinion that most of his goals are scored due to the great plays of his linemates?
Are you aware that Farabee led all Flyers in primary assists at 5 on 5. So it seems as though a lot of his linemates benefitted from his playmaking

That's what some of us are wondering. How can you overhype a 6th round pick, yet Jones has done it. The fact that he has, should be frightening to every Flyers fan. The kid is a project that is 50/50 on whether he ever becomes a full time NHL defenseman. You bought into the hype.
