original solution but it wouldn't work, teams would constantly be over the cap, I think you have to look elsewhere.
- Pat1993

Sometimes poop just happens.

It is a tough game.

When noone is trying to do something stupid to another player, it can still result in injuries.

Also, Vegas and TB would abuse this.

The major difference is that WiFi plays D - if he spends lots of time in the box or gets kicked out, and you are down to 5D. and that hurts.

Much different if a 4th line forward gets plunked for those minutes.

Roll out Pezz, tell him to beat the poop out of everyone, move on.

- Mashadar

I don't disagree.

Maybe MSL shoulda tapped Pezz for those next shifts, and sat Wifi, but he didn't.

And furthermore, why did that meathead coach of TO's send that kid right back out there, he had to have known poop was gonna hit the fan..

you're saying this as though hockey has evolved tremendously since then... goons need to be able to play hockey now, but like it or not, the role still exists, as does the "players' code", it is what it is.

and then the playoffs are a poop show too, lots of physicality

I think we'll soon realize Berube is very different from Sheldon Keefe.

I'm pretty sure Berube is capable of losing in the first round just as well as Keefe.

Like I said, I have no issue with the WiFi hit on Stuzle, IF he had kept his elbow tucked.

But he did not.

Actions like that are not not gonna get him a pass with Refs going forward.

but he didn't hit his head with the elbow either, so I'm not sure what the issue with that would be exactly...

in any case you can never measure intent, or penalize a player based on that. if a hit was deemed dangerous then it should be penalized as such, even if the intent wasn't there at all.

Defend all you want.

It was a dumb funking no-reason-to attempt move on what would have been a clean play that makes him look stupid and just puts him further on the side of refs not giving him the benefit of the doubt going forward.

He is either gonna get his head out of his ass and play hockey or he will be gone from the lineup pretty fast.

Chicken wing is pretty much intent.

Keeping elbows down is not.

I think the coach and his teammates disagree with you, he seems to be very much appreciated, so it's probably gonna take much more than that before he's scratched imho.

Murder or manslaughter is likely what he means.

well that kinda goes with what I'm saying, you can accidentally kill someone but you're gonna have consequences for it, even if killing wasn’t your intention...

You don't accidently lift your elbow towards someone's head - contact or no contact with the elbow/head.

That is kinda my point.

you could always argue the elbow was just the follow through from the movement lol... I still think intent shouldn't be considered because it can't be objectively measured in hockey, so bygones I guess.

If you have to keep control if you stick, regardless, then the same should apply to elbows.

Then intent is not needed part of the discussion.

well since the elbow didn't hit the other guy's head, it kind of is...
