The MSL magic has done nothing for the PP so far this pre-season.

poop has to change.

- Mashadar

but as I said the full lineup barely played together... also it isn't just up to coaches, it's mostly up to the guys on the ice to make something happen. PIT had a terrible powerplay last year, and they have Crosby, Malkin, Letang and Karlsson, wtf.

McDavid could not fix that second unit.

EDIT: Might not be able to fix the 1st one either.

- Mashadar

Nonsense.

McDavid would fine a way to score by himself.

I think they are too predictable, from zone entries, to set up.

No enough passing, not enough movement.

- Mashadar

and not enough speed in their execution. look at the best PP around the league, the puck moves fast.

Passing is tentative and almost always to the expected recipient, more movement would help create confusion, break down coverage, and to you point, use speed as an advantage.

I sometimes feel that PP is in slow motion waiting for the opposition to make a mistake rather than force the opposition to make a mistake..

Joel Armia signed a 7 year deal worth $48 million and was named captain of the Habs

Lots of movement opens up and creates new lanes too. Movement and movement with speed and confidence is key.

Yes, to an extent.

If the coach is advocating XYZ and that plan is not working (either bad plan or players cannot execute on it - or more likely a little of both), then it is on the coaches to try something new.

I read somewhere the Habs have had the worst PP over a combined last 5 years.

Clearly something needs to change.

Yeah, that is where I see someone like Hutson causing so much confusion out there, the way he moves around.

That night be interesting.

oh that I agree, 100%. just saying that sometimes for whatever reason it simply doesn't click between players, and it might not always be a matter of X's and O's.

May seem strange to say... but perhaps too much talent on the first unit, need a grinder (or two), split them rest up, create havoc out there.

Just a very passive unit.

a guy like Dach might be able to bring that extra grit missing... the important thing to have an efficient and not-so-predictable PP is that players develop chemistry between each other, which isn't always so easy to do.

If his lawyers just said he shops at Cosco, then that would have been a better explanation.
- Mashadar

he did and costco replied with they don't sell that brand.
