I have this gut feeling Dubas is going to be watching waivers and Puustinen will get waivered if we claim someone.
- 123Kid

They could get around it, but technically Puustinen does have to be on the opening roster. I do agree I think he always is looking. I don't think he would have made a claim before Ludvig was claimed because GMs hate being at 50 contracts.

I expect Aho to be claimed as well.

Honestly, after watching the preseason and the great in tight, and all over ice, puck support they had I could see EK, with his style of play, no preseason games and limited practice hindering the on ice product Wednesday night. Hope I'm wrong.

Sully had some good things to say about Shea in his presser. It's hard to judge players in pre-season games, but I thought Shea looked like a better player over Aho.

Ludvig had too many bad moments in his own end. I liked the physicality, but I'm not surprised he was cut. Wish he would have slipped through.

If Dubas wants another forward option, Engvall is on waivers, but I wouldnt be shocked if someone takes him before he reaches us.

Watching the devils-sabres highlights that nj Defense looks pretty damn impressive. Big and nasty. If they stay healthy this year I think they challenge to win the metro. Granted they were playing Buffalo haha.

But them being good sucks for us.

Devils have too much talent to not figure it out. Lindy Ruff was a brutal hire, but I think Keefe will do a lot better in a lower pressure environment.

His contract is pretty brutal. I’d be kinda shocked if he got picked up.

Speaking of waivers....What about Samuel Fagemo? 24 years old, 6 foot 200lbs, right handed LWer... 43 goals/62 points in 50 games in the AHL last season...775k cap hit....

Lots to be optimistic about in the pre season, but lets see how things stack up when the best are playing the best in the regular season.

Really happy with Puljujarvi. The question for me is if he can take it to a level that he can displace Rackell on the 2nd line.

McGroaty has been ok. I'd like to see him stay up and play on the 3rd line for a handful of games at least to see if he can handle the tougher assignments.

Brunike is the most exciting player right now. While he might not be ready for a full NHL season, I think they should keep him up for 8 games, specifically while Karlsson is coming up to speed. Let Karlsson ease in and see how Brunike can handle regular season hockey. Likely St Ivany is the longer term solution.

The biggest question mark to me is if Crosby still has it in him to carry a bottom 6 winger on the top line, against the toughest matchups. Really want to see Dubas make an early season move for that 1LW spot.

I do find it to be a slight slap in the face for Crosby from Dubas (even if it is unintentional).

You trade his good friend and a top pairing LW last year at the deadline. You probably tell him I will sign someone to replace him in the offseason or even bring him back if we could. Then the offseason comes and goes, and he didn't sign a replacement. Then he talks Crosby into taking a pay cut/staying at the same pay. That is kinda crazy. I agree. I am hoping for an upgrade at LW. I would love for a situation where we are buyers at the deadline, but I know that is highly unlikely

I was thinking of him for a potential LW pickup or Raphael Lavoie RW (he was a name rumored to be discussed during the Guentzel trade last year). Both players are good younger talent with scoring potential.

I have absolutely no way of proving these things but I don't think Crosby was talked into "taking a pay cut/staying at the same pay" and I don't think he feels "slapped in the face".

I guess the only thing is who would the Pens place on waivers to accommodate picking guys up off waivers...

I don't mind either of those guys over Puustinen

They'd send down McGroarty or St. Ivany as the immediate move, since nobody else can be placed on waivers before rosters are set.

They could then recall them and place Puustinen on waivers as soon as they could. I don't think a forward would replace anyone besides McGroarty or Puustinen.
