OK, but what Value would they bring back. Is it enough to make a difference and do you have to add on top of that.
- Buff36

Not any one of them alone brings what I'm looking for, although Power is probably the closest.
I can't say what each would return, who knows.

For the return I want in a major deal, I would think it would take
-Power/Cozens/JJP (roster player)
-'25-1st (1st Rounder)
-Kulich (A prospect)
+? (Depending on player returned)

Out of curiosity, and if it's tough to say no worries, what would be a player you'd think would garner this type of return that could be available? Rantanen is the only name I've come up with recently given his contract status.

Leon was not on their radar

skunk, bennet and ekblad were the only 3 on their radar

dal colle was probably 4th on their board

- homiedclown

my comment was said with hindsight, but also remember someone saying their pick was down to skunk or leon (not sure if that was out of GMTM month or not). At the end of the day they took the safe route.

I would think the best we can do right now is Zegras. Probably need to wait for some teams to realize they need to rebuild and then see what they are selling. Right now most teams think they have a chance at making the playoffs.

Shouldn't he cost a fraction of that though? He's certainly not top echelon either, at least yet. Not trying to be an ass, just curious on what you think his value would be.

I think you are looking at lottery tickets like Turcotte, Kotkaniemi or overpaying for a guy like Zegras or rental players like Brock Nelson or Kuzmenko

Did everything go wrong leading up to the 2015 draft, when the team knew they were picking 2nd?

We all tall about needing at least 1 elite Center to compete.

The Sabres being aggressive ruined a chance to draft Eichel and Matthews in back to back seasons.

Is that where it all went wrong?

- kingcong39

They would have needed to win the lottery to get matthews so idk. Hindsight is what it is

From the top down the LaFontaine thing surely resonated in the league and then doing everything they could to (frank) up eichels situation, who they sold their souls to get is a good place to start

Admittedly I was on the teams side at first but wow why wouldn't you let that guy get his surgery. Already gave him everything else except a competitive roster

aside from coming out of the lockout

I never lumped speed with ruff

I always think of him leaning on guys like grier, nieds, hecht, mair, teppo, brown, patrick, etc

hopefully this team will turn the corner, but I lean towards past experience over the last 13 years

Probably no one is available right now.
By December, if certain teams are in the poopter, perhaps conversations could deepen.
Off the top of my head, wish list in no order
-Detroit, Larkin
-Ottawa, Tkachuk or Stutzle
-Tampa, Point (probably not unless the package had 3, young, very good players/prospects)

I wonder how long it will take fans to truly turn on pegula. Like signs and chanting in the arena level

He is the common denominator here

Will it even matter?

Kuzmenko is so underappreciated, I would love to take a stab at him. Turcotte too, but he might be redundant. Good calls there, but aren't all of these guys worth significantly less? I was assuming we were looking for a top30 player.

Good names and a lot closer to the quality I was assuming we'd be hunting. Exactly what we should've been trying to do this summer. Hopefully we aren't the sellers in December and this can come to fruition.

Apparently the matchup tomorrow is so bad that there's a 22.4% chance that everyone loses.

Yes, I think his cost would be somewhat less and the Ducks may like a package of pieces rather than one of our top pieces. I'm not sure what they may want, but I would start with Sammy + Krebs + prospect (initially Rosen). If that gets a conversation, then could up the offer by adding a 2025 2nd rd pick. If they insisted on Ostlund or Walhberg over Rosen, then OK. The max I go would be Tuch straight up for Zegras. Using any of Tage, JJ, Cozens, Quinn, or Benson just makes it a wash and our top six really isn't changing significantly. Zegras ain't getting Ramus, Power or Bryam unless they're adding a significant additional piece.

Offer might be a little low on the initial. Rosen has looked pretty poor this year so far and Krebs is a healthy scratch but can't argue with the rest.

Yes, but why would any of these players be traded:
-Detroit, Larkin
-Ottawa, Tkachuk or Stutzle
-Tampa, Point

They would probably want Byrum + Cozens + Benson in return.

Zegras would get more than that on name alone.

You are looking at a 1 a prospect and a roster player most likely.

So 26 top 10 protected first.

I think Owen power probably has the most trade value to other teams.

1OA status and a reasonable contract moving forward . Assuming he breaks thru a little more this season.
