I could live with that. Also I'm not so sure the statement "Zegras would get more than that on name alone" is true. Given that it's a copycat league, and Zegras doesn't seem like a Panthers kind of player, the value of a flashy goal scoring type may not be at its peak (would teams prefer having Sam Bennet over Zegras?).

I think Owen power probably has the most trade value to other teams.

I agree but Tampa doesn't want Power's contract, and all three teams would likely want Cozen included to replace the player they traded to us, so its more likely Byram than Power. I doubt any of those teams would trade their player for Power straight-up (at least I wouldn't).

I'm just trying to think of when and why this would happen. After this season, if the Sens fail and want to rebuild and the Sabres fail and a new GM wants to remake the team, without rebuilding.

Guess that could happen, but there's no world where it happens now.

I think the only way it happens this year is the Sens fall out and we're battling for a spot. Then I could see us opening up the wallet to pay them for a name. They can say they're getting back a ton of prospect talent to reset.

Again, highly unlikely any trade between us and the Sens comes to pass, but there are some instances where it could at least make sense.
