Yea all this talk about players earning their positions, Jones has not earned the PP1 position. - BetweenTheDots
KD should have signed Eric Gustafson instead of Brodie. At least he could of run a power play.

I'm hoping Wyatt gets to dress soon and is given a chance at it. I feel the only reason SJ is QBing it because of how much he's getting paid. |

No, it’s because no one else on the team is even close. He certainly has his deficiencies, but there is no one else currently on the roster that even knows what to do with the puck on the PP. With the lineup posted for PP2, they are basically just trying not to give anything up the other way. |

I would try Vlasic at it or Martinez.
Not just for 1 game or several shifts like LR does. |

Without seeing the fancies, the Hawks were the better team in the 2nd and 3rd.
Not a playoff team, but not the dumpster fire of the last 2 years. With so many new guys, it’ll take some time to develop chemistry.
Best Buy completely sold out of over the air antennas. Need a deal with Comcast tomorrow. |

Thought Hall looked good considering he’s been out almost a year.
Nazar & Slaggert, at minimum, finish the season in Chicago after some vets get flipped at the deadline.
I could do without Brodie & Maroon. Donato continues to play well. |

I truely thought Jones on PP1 Tuesday was awful - glennjpawlak22
Jones on PP1 has been awful from the first shift they put him there.
His ability to keep the puck in the zone reminds me too much of Duncan Keith, who was also awful on the PP.

IIRC the Hawks had a 56 xGF v Utah.... They carried the fancies in a pretty big way.

Everywhere but the scoreboard, which has been this team's problem for the last several years.
This team lacks finishers. You can't win much in this league with only one finisher.

ageless Kopitar with a hat trick. Buffalo now 0-3. How long will Lindy Ruff last. Time for another rebuild for Buffalo? |

Celebrini with a goal in his debut with San Jose. 1-1 in the 1st against the Blues. |

I would love to see something like that as well. I don't think KD is purposely trying to slow roll the rebuild. I think he has to fight against the fact his team is not going to be good for a couple years. I think his best route to improvement is going to be by trade the next two years. - Chunk
I believe we know that next season is when KD expects Some of the kids to win jobs. I believe we hope even sort of expect that Some kids will be impact players their second full season so that could be two seasons away. And we all should know either through trade or draft choice, Bedard needs a premiere talent point producer on his line. Nazar and other prospects need to step up and prove that the second offensive line is capable so that teams would not treat us as a one line team. And I bet there will be a host of youngsters who can perform well in L3 and L4 roles. My biggest concern actually is that if the team eventually expects Comesso to ascend to the number one goaltender, I do. It think he is going to become more than a descent goaltender never elite …so maybe on par with what Mrzak was last season
I have seen Wiz reply about how KD might like to draft in ‘25 and even the following two draft years the team needs at least one good top pair dman and honestly more than one top forward
Leveshunov, Kk and Rinzel is the players who could be top two pair while DelMaetro and Allen may develop into solid 3rd pair possibly second pair option. Lots of nice looking forward prospects but honestly not one drafted forward presently is a certain top line projection After this season a couple toward prospects may show signs of possible top two line forward scorers but we definitely should either sign/trade for a top point producer and someone needs to be the range power forward
Prospects will inundate but their impact is questionable as impact players right away. |

To all of you worried about the youth not getting enough NHL ice time with all of these worthless vets on the team, the injuries will start to pile up soon enough, and guys will be going back and forth from Rockford to Chicago and getting plenty of mentoring. |

Ok look at San Jose.
Youth served. Look carefully at the lineup. Celebrini but also early first round picks Eklund and W Smith.
The Sharks also use some hanger on type basicly never developed from prospect status. One example: Benning.
Trade for another team’s less than desirable players: Ceci Although Ceci was making too much coin and Edmonton had to cut some salary still he is practically a garbage pick up. They hope Ceci can be a tolerable place holder until someone else comes along who replaces him
So we have some veterans on defense. Probably most are jettisoned after only one year. Brodie two year deal could prove problematic
I foresee both DelMaestro and Allen seriously competing & winning out for a job next season. How long will KK and Arty need to keep improving in the AHL? Two seasons or less?
Changes are coming and we start seeing more prospects sticking. Maybe some prospects going too - Reichel, Phillips. There is a bounty of forwards on the horizon and surely some will pan out and others stall out or never make the cut

Yep. There really isn't going to be a lack of opportunity. We had one guy play all 82 games last season and if anything we got even more old and injury prone year over year. There will be chances. |

Keith's main problem was that he could never get his shot through.
Jones doesn't think offense naturally. I'm still not over how he tried to take over the OT against Detroit that ended up with Kane scoring on the breakaway.
As others have already said, who else should be the QB on PP1? There is no clear answer. I seem to remember they even tried five forwards on PP1 last season, which would lead me to think the coaches don't know, either.
