I would play stolarz. - Fakepartofme
If there were ever a time to play a goaltender twice in two days, this is is probably it.
Beginning of the season, he's not tired yet and he played great yesterday.
Then again, I don't really know the other guy. |

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Its early in the season and hes a pro athlete....he can play two games in a row.
Give the beast the home game against a lesser opponent |

This being said, the whole "who's gonna play the home opener" might be a factor here.

Either Vegas is really really good…. probable -
or Colorado needs goalies worse than any team on the planet… no team with Makar should be giving up 8 spots… even if you played the entire game with an empty net.

Hildeby. There’s no reason to play Stolarz 3 times in 4 days. Leafs have depth, use it. |

It's game 1. The best goalie in the league is Montembeault and Bobrovsky sucks again. Cool beans... |

On second thought, bring in Murray with specific instructions to knock the net off its pegs at least 4 times |

With Woll being injured, I'm not sure I want to stress Stolarz so early in the season. I'm relatively sure he'd be fine, but early season shape isn't the same as mid-season - and groins pull a lot easier in October. I'd just suck it up and go with Hildeby and if we start 0-2, big f'n deal. It's a long season. You never welcome them, but losses are going to happen.

Still alive. No major damage to the house or property.
Even during the worst of the storm, I checked the scoreboard to be disappointed in the traditional Leafy way.
Tampa dodged the surge, but took a ton wind damage and flash flooding from record torrential rains.
Power is still out (might be for days), but cell towers are still working.
I'll be scarce while cleanup is going on. The yard and garden is a wreck. - GalacticStone

Stolarz is awesome. He came to the Leafs to play more, so start him and stop coddling goaltenders. Period.
(frank)ing Centers, wingers, defensemen all play every game. A 6'6" beast of a man can play B2B games FFS. |

I its just more that goalies stats are worse in b2b
also, position players play 15-25 mins, and goalies 60
so they play more..actual mins

And if he pulls his groin and you're stuck with Hildeby and Murray for 3 weeks? There's another b2b in 12 days with Tampa and Columbus.
For the record a 6'6 beast of a man puts more pressure, demand and stress on the groin muscles than a 5'7 pipsqueak.
I don't recall any history of Stolarz pulling his groin - and he has little history to work with. He's never made back-to-back starts in the NHL, and he's 30 years old. He has appeared in back-to-back games, having relieved on game 1 of a double-header, and then started in the second game. He's won once, lost twice - and both losses he didn't fare well.

You're 100% correct.
Absolutely no reason to make any of our goalies play back-to-back when we have 4 guys they could put in net early in the season and effectively extend their "try-out" period.
I think the Leafs are going to have a rough start to the season adjusting to the new coaches and systems. Why put all that pressure on the goalies, who are already a bunch of gambles and unknowns?
If the Leafs have 4 goalies who can only play 20-25 games each, then that's what you got. Roll with it. |
