Also, two of those mistakes are gone, and the third at least serves some purpose.

I don’t really call it “letting him”.

The coach draws the lines and either you meet them or do not. Also, if they’re looking to move him would you feel comfy playing a guy with an injury history like him?

Once again I’m not saying this is what’s going on, just how I find myself mostly seeing it. You could be right and it’s nothing more than him being sat to sell another.

Sure I can agree I used poor wording and it isn't "letting" him crack the top 6. He may just be sucking so hard and time to take 3 late picks and let him go

Hell maybe all they’ve been offered so far are future considerations lol

Edit: I know I’ve mentioned future considerations a couple times now but it makes me laugh. Is it an offer or Toronto’s willingness to accept it if it occurred would be my sincere question lol

Could be worse - we could be Sabres fans.

I wandered into their blog, hoping for some Bills talk.

I quickly decided not to post anything - they are in a very dark mood, and I didn't think my presence would be welcome - even if I was only looking to talk positively about the Bills.

Time is the right answer as to why nothing has happened ...Leafs aren't in a hurry. Don't pull the trigger unless you like the deal or the deadline is approaching (ie. Hakanpaa is back and ready to roll).

What if McCabe or Tanev gets injured in the next few weeks ...then you regret trading Timmy too soon.

No trade .....doesn't mean anything yet.

Plus some more teams get into the mix with injuries over the next few weeks. Petry looked like he separated his shoulder last night ..Yzerman calling on line 1.

Hearing that this would be their 9th straight playoff season and hearing about the last time they did it made me roll my eyes a bit lol

The last time they hit the playoffs for the 9th year in a row was 67’

Yup, if they don’t need the cap space don’t move him unless it’s an overpriced offer 100%

I saw this regarding Timmy lilygrin

Lots of people don't think TL is even a third pair NHL D.

As a rebuttal I would offer a comparison of Liljegren's outputs at the same age vs Devon Toews, Forsling and Weegar. They were iffy until they all of a sudden were good.

“Welcome aboard Brad, glad you said yes to our contract offer. So in 30 days you’ll have the free agents to deal with but in 28-29 days here’s some picks to handle first.”

Yeah but he shouldn't have needed 30 seconds to decide against those signings.

For gods sake ...do not trade Timmy to Boston or Florida!!!!

He'll be an instant all-star.

Honestly though ...I'd be surprised if there arent' a few teams with interest in him as a 4/5 with some upside and good value at $3M.

They've been rebuilding for 10 years now.

Starting the season 0-3 will be enough to have them depressed.

Be interesting if he did reach that level of a game. Imagine what could happen if he got tougher, blocked shots more, played more physical, all at the cost of giving up some of his offence.

I mean let’s face something here… the leafs already have Rielly, Tanev, and OEL for a notable few years. Do you want to add McCabe or would you hope that sitting Liljegren could piss him off enough to modify his game to be more similar to McCabe’s and then bank on him instead of McCabe on the right side moving forward? Be a better age choice and handedness (is that even a word?) of shot.

....I do remember when somebody traded a 1st for him ...and after a couple of years gave him $23M.

Great example what a few teams will do to shore up their 4/5 rolls. Imagine if he was a righty?

I'm just saying a few teams (Ducks?, Hawks?, Sharks?, Kings?, Wings? ...) would probably part with some modest futures to and try to see if there's more in Lilly.

I think the big difference between the Sandin trade and the same thing happening to Liljegren is that the hope was still alive with Sandin.

He was 22 at the time, showed flashes of interesting potential offensively, Washington took a chance. They probably regret it but.... it was in the realm of the "maybe he figures it out".

Liljegren is now 25, hasn't really progressed in the past few years and still somehow comes with a 3M cap hit for two seasons. He's not physical, he's not driving offense.... he's... what exactly?

Feels like you'd need a pretty desperate team to consider him a viable solution to whatever problem they'd have on defense.
