Not til the 31st (game 11) and also Dewar may have lost his job if Lorentz keeps playing like this. I mean I like Dewar but he only got 19P in 74 games last year, his spot was always up for grabs, wouldn’t be shocked if he gets put on waivers. The question for me is who do you pull out of the lineup to slide Jarnkrok in? The bottom six is looking good, if they continue to do so the injured guys might have lost jobs. - Dozzer
Ya, I just meant they'll have to make some kind of moves b/c when those two guys are healthy that'll be 15 fwds. 1 or maybe 2 will have to get cut.
No hurries ..they have 3 weeks to evaluate then make some decisions. |

Yeah, I get what you’re saying I was just trying to bring up possibilities (I know my phrasing isn’t all that great so my apologies)
The fourth line can drop off quite a bit as well making the other options of letting the LTIR guys play a bit stronger too right? I won’t pretend to know. But if this 4th line keeps ticking the way they have I think I’d be more annoyed if they break it up. |

Very small sample size, but this team is looking great everywhere EXCEPT big money scoring. There are no glaring weaknesses so far, and we still have Hak, Jarny, and Dewar waiting in the wings. Play well or be replaced. |

I absolutely love the green bins get picked up by the same truck that grabs the garbage lol
I use a green bin happily but I also know where this stuff goes… it’s being bought up by farmers faster than it’s collected (dad owns a farm and explained this to me) because it’s cheaper than fertilizer. This is why I think the next NHL team should be from Fort Worth Texas, call them the Farmers, and make their jersey’s green too in order to piss off The Stars fans.

I agree they look good. Lots of options compared to past few years.
And how they handle the blueline will determine how many fwds they carry. |

Yeah, Liljegren has offensive talent but you can’t hold onto a $3 mill 8th D man, I’m guessing he’ll be part of a deal so the leafs don’t just have to pay to get someone to take him on or move him for next to nothing.
It’s a total guess but once Hakanpaa is ready to go Liljegren will have been moved and Mermis and Myers will be sent to the Marlies (hoping they clear). This would leave 7 guys with Hakanpaa and Timmins being the 6/7th two. As I said it’s a guess but seems to make the most sense IF people get healthy and aren’t rusty of course. |

I posted what was being reported, that’s it. This post of mine was before Hildeby was made the starter.
So this time your analysis of me is wrong. Keep attacking others and you won’t be posting at all.

Orrrr Timmins is being showcased for a trade. Which I wouldn't want because I was real big on his trade with his pedigree as a prospect and where he was drafted.
Options though. All a GM wants. Options.

For me the production from the fourth line has been a great bonus, but it's unexpected. What I absolutely love about that line is that for the first time in a long time they have a cohesive style. McMann - or Reaves, Kampf and Lorentz - they are good playing tight, winning battles, forcing the puck to the wall, cycling that puck and winning those little battles to keep that cycle going. If it turns into nothing at all for 40 seconds and the puck sits on the wall in the O-Zone - it's still another won shift. Lorentz' ability to do those little things right and win those little battles is a boon. I think it's lifting the guys around him on that line.
Take some recent examples -
McMann - Kampf - Gregor: It's close, but Gregor doesn't want to do cycling or wall work. He wants to skate. He wants open ice and room and to break out of the pack. McMann could skate with Gregor, more or less, but Kampf couldn't. It wasn't a cohesive style. If you're not all rowing in the same direction . . .
Engvall - Kampf - Kerfoot: None of these guys played the same way at all. Two of them couldn't win a battle if the opponent was unconscious. Lots of speed from Engvall and Kerfoot, but Kampf isn't a participant in that. Again, no real cohesion - but you at least have speed on the wings. I always complained that Kerfoot didn't win enough puck battles for any bottom-6 role and neither did Engvall.
Engvall - Kampf - Mikheyev: To be honest, it worked well but it probably shouldn't have. Mikheyev was a decent puck hound and Kampf had a very good year with them winning a lot of 1:1 battles. I do like Engvall, as I'm sure you know I've said, and I thought on this line he was pretty effective. They didn't cycle. They also didn't maintain O-zone possession time or wear guys down, but they were a decent 4th line - probably because they were really our 3rd line. I think [player]-Spezza-Simmonds was our 4th, and that line definitely had no cohesion or clear purpose.
I mean then you had crap like Kerfoot - Spezza - Thornton or Vesey - Spezza - Boyd or Timashov - Gauthier - Shore . . .
So yeah, from a 4th line perspective, there's a reason that after only 2 games we're all pretty delighted.

Are you trying to believe that Liljegren isn’t on the trade block? He’s way overpriced for the role he’s even battling for. Nor is he nowhere near physical enough to play Berube’s game. It’s a guess I’ll admit but I’d honestly be surprised if the leafs don’t move him. At $3 mill he’s in the 2nd pairing pay amounts. |

Yeah I’m really liking it as well, it’s why I can see Dewar moved or hopefully clearing if sent down. Obviously staying hot matters and no injuries… makes October an interesting month that’s for sure.
My biggest question is Jarnkrok (which could obviously change)… he’s essentially up against Robertson and Pacioretty at this point… do you sit Robertson? Or Pacioretty? Rotate all three? I’m truly curious how that will play out. |

Do you sit on reaves again sat or do you rotate another guy out?
They’ve all played well though - bryant
Fun fact: the leading PIM guy on the Penguins last year was Malkin, with 70.
Let's pretend for a moment that having Reaves in the lineup acts as some sort of deterrent against roughing up our stars.
There's no need for that against Pittsburgh.
Some other fun facts:
Last year Pittsburgh had the 3rd least amount of PIM, and 2nd least majors (only nine all year). |

He's already 6 goals behind last year's pace.
Is it too early to start talking about trading him for spare parts?
