Helps when two of their best players are out of the lineup - Wetbandit1
I agree with you about that. This Sabres team needed that win badly. I’m sure just from a confidence point of view |

Could be, but that's not how Lindy explained it in the post game.
Said he believes Benson is still playing injured, and with the time off after tonight, he was committed to playing 3 forward lines tonight.
Loved Krebs game, so gave him the chance tonight with Benson being less than 100%.
Didn't think it was fair to Malenstyn to have him sit for long stretches and then have to take a shift.
Gilbert was playing in case his physicality was needed.

Can understand that with Benson, Beck was bad today. And it looked like having Gilbert out there finally made Samuelsson's balls drop a bit because he was actually Hitting people. |

Hopefully a wake-up call for Samuelsson, he needs to play like this consistently |

How do you know Beck was bad?
He had 2 shifts in the 1st period and one in the 3rd.
The shift chart shows that Lindy went with 3 lines the entire game, and gave Krebs the reps at forward that Benson would normally get after the 1st period. |

One positive
There are 14 Sabres with more points than Matthews |

So going to the Sabres game:
Overall Sabres entertainment was still garbage. Boring music. Videos are dull.
Goal song stinks. No idea what the song is. But it just doesn’t work.
The new Jumbotron looking at it from the 100 level. It feels too close and too big. ( In the pictures it doesn’t look that big)
I did like the small screen under the Jumbotron. It showed in game stats such at turnovers. Sabres had 14.
No smoke or any effect is missing from when the Sabres score.
The Sabres audio is also off. The Steve Austin “hell yeah” or what ever he said. Is way way way too loud.
Saturday / weekend games in general always seem to have better energy than a Tuesday game.
Food is the same garbage and beer still way overpriced. |

Because if he's doing what he supposed to I would think he would have more shifts then that. They traded a good pick for the guy to not get playing time, especially when he was brought in for games like this. |

This is where I got confused at the game.
Was laff a healthy scratch? I couldn’t figure out the 4th line.
Since we had 7 d
At the end. Beck sat per ruff due to getting cold on the bench. Benson sat due to him being hurt.

They didn't have a 4th line last night. Wouldn't read anything into that. Don't think there's any question that he likes that line. These just aren't guys who play up in the lineup much and the 3rd line was great.

Can we say that a coaching decision contributed to a win yesterday….? |

Yeah, I didn’t get why ruff wanted to go all out with 3 lines. I get the team has a day off. But still.

Maybe he seen a team that wants to run and gun and thought our skill players would have a good day….? |

Guessing Lafferty was hurt or he knew Benson wasn't healthy and they weren't going to be able to roll 4 lines. Maybe a D wasn't 100%. Lot of fairly innocent reasons. |

Can't help but think Lindy managed that better than Donnie would have.

Sabres played Well. Playing against a goalie that took a period or so to get going helped. Sabres missed a ton of chances in the 1st. Scoring a few goals definitely helps with confidence. |

Lindy coached back to back excellent games at home.
Should have won on Thursday, just couldn’t put the puck in the net.
Funny how popular Lindy is among the fans. Everyone loves the guy.
FYI
Home opener was a sell out of 19,070
Saturday 16,000 + , strangely lots of Florida fans |

Sup Boss.
Everyone iv talked to is split 50/50 with Ruff. Love or hate. I did not like the hire but like the guy
Think we needed a coach with experience but not a retread. Really hope it works out for all our sakes.

Well, they got their 1st win, by all accounts by playing the right way.
Can they now string wins together, or do they resemble last years team who struggled to put 2 wins back to back.
4 games in and 2 points...they have already dug themselves a hole again. Can they stop digging?

Do you remember the last several Coach Searches? Nobody of substance wanted to come here back then, and it has only degraded, not improved.
And what is "a coach with experience but not a retread"? I assume you mean an existing Assistant/Associate Coach? I think Ap0ert is going to ge the guy after Lindy's term expires. |

Someone that was not already the coach here. Should of clarified that.
How long was the coaching search after they fired granato? Seemed like they didnt even try before hiring Lindy
