Was better yesterday than Friday. But I can't sugarcoat that I am very concerned. Two back surgeries and a core muscle surgery in just over two calendar years is something almost no player can fully recover from. - bmeltzer
coots looks done he'll probably be a 3rd 4th liner soon |

Is that possibly the reason they kept Jett to start? A lot of concern for Coots’ health and no other center options? No free agent centers were invited to camp for a PTO. No real option at center in LV. Just a thought that maybe this had nothing to do with readiness or development? |

They have Couturier, Frost, Poehling, Laughton and Cates. That's 5 center options right there.

Couturier was horrendous in the season opener. He was much improved last night. Not top center level but much better. Hopefully, it's a trend. - MJL

Next game they will have to sit 2 real hockey players as Totorella's super hero ND will be added to the line-up and proceed to stay there the rest of the year |

I haven't set the bar low. His performance in game 1 was that of a player who can't play in the NHL. In game 2, he was much better but not at a level to meet his contract.

He is never going to play at a level to meet his contract. |

Sure he was and will. Coots is absolutely a player you resign AND build around

Last night was really rough to watch from a time zone standpoint and start of the season stand point on a back to back night. Ivan Fedotov in my mind has yet to look like anything resembling an NHL goalie in my mind. I think there was a reason why Errson was able to keep the team hanging on. Ivan Fedotov I doubt is that guy and for such a tall guy, it felt like every shot pushed him back into his net. |

I assume you are in the central time zone? Games were over by midnight. That is a stretch for me during the week (I get up at 5), but doable on weekends |

Bill, your thoughts on coots early on here ? - ClaudeFather
It’s why you don’t sign 29 year old players, save for elite franchise players, to eight year extensions. It’s just bad business in a league that operates with a hard salary cap.
I love Couts, but honestly the smart move would have been to trade him at the 2021 draft. |

This organization has framed out a rebuild because they fell on their face and they haven’t actually done anything impactful to truly rebuild. Imagine Michikov doesn’t fall in their lap? We are looking at an atrocity. The center depth, including pipeline, is probably the worst in the league. |

Hahahahahaahaha rebuild. Let’s stop even saying that they ever intended or did anything other than dupe stupid flyers fans with “rebuild” anything associated with that word. It was a scam from the beginning.
Moved on to mm mania mass marketing campaign. They’re good for at least the next half decade running that gravy train |

They currently have 6 picks in the upcoming draft, and could add more between now and then. Sure sounds like a rebuild to me. The Pack is back!! Congrats to the Beagles for BARELY beating a cupcake at home today. |

Both games ended at 1am. Vancouver was fine to watch, even though my Saturday’s begin with 7am yoga and kickboxing classes back to back. Calgary was just rough because it was late and boring. |

Who are the top 5 youngest teams - ClaudeFather Don't remember. It was a list shown during Friday night's Flyers game. I know the Sabres were one of the top two youngest, and I think the other was either Anaheim or San Jose.

Just on here? lol listen to the local media and podcast. The people associated with the team in any way. It’s like they all suckle from the same teet.
Sad for a once proud organization. |

This team will never learn.
1) 1st lockout
2) now new current new nhl.
3) they refuse to adapt. No one cares about their youth. Outside of mm they have no elite talent. And these young decent to good players need to be signed and paid. Some already are starting to.
With each longer term mid player extension and max term for non elite turning 30 player (coots/tk) they will never have true cap space to compete for cup.
They are going to be a middling team for the next decade |
