I hope Edmonton continues to struggle when we roll in to play them. That’d be a huge two points vs a contender |

They don’t care. They’ll flip the switch in December and rip off 15 in a row like last year. |

This team will never learn.
1) 1st lockout
2) now new current new nhl.
3) they refuse to adapt. No one cares about their youth. Outside of mm they have no elite talent. And these young decent to good players need to be signed and paid. Some already are starting to.
With each longer term mid player extension and max term for non elite turning 30 player (coots/tk) they will never have true cap space to compete for cup.
They are going to be a middling team for the next decade - Stayin alive The Coots signing was brutal and I said it the day that they did it, but that was Chuckles. Coots was never a good skater and that only gets worse as players age. Combine that with nagging injuries and a couple of major injuries , and he looks cooked with 5 years to go on that contract. I don't have as much of a problem with the TK signing cause he's a little younger and can skate well. His contract shouldn't age as bad as Coots' contract, but who knows. I agree that they need to find ways to add elite talent. Perhaps Luchanko was a sneaky good pick...perhaps he wasn't. If Luchanko and Coots did a lap around the ice Jett would probably lap him. Yikes!

Ersson good. Fedotov not so much. He has a lot to work on. Michkov looks good. Powerplay is better thus far. I feel like Edmonton will be fired up on Tuesday. Ersson better be ready. |

Center depth might be weaker than the defensive depth. The winger depth is good. Farabee and Brink on the "3rd" line is a good thing. I think we are ok at goalie. If Ersson proves to be a legit NHL starter than they could be really good in goal. Especially with some intriguing prospects in the pipeline.

This team desperately needs a true #1 elite center and true #1 elite defender, and that is just the start. It's funny, I don't think Anaheim is playing Cutter at center. He has 0 points and 2 hits along with 3 shots thus far, but he has only taken one faceoff. |

An .839 save pct. isn't gonna get it done. This team probably needs at least a .900 save pct. every night to have a chance.

Yeah his positioning is atrocious. He has a lot of things to work on. I think he got away with just being big so far in his career. That won't cut it in the NHL.

My concern with Fedotov is for a big 6'7" guy, he too often does not square his big frame to the shooters and thus there is space over his shoulders. I would think if anything teams might have more luck going lower on him but even in preseason players have been shooting high on him. I agree also with MJL on the flopping, a goalie on his size should be on his feet or knees 99.9% of the time and again being square to the puck at all times. |

I’d really like to see Michkov get leaned on when used on the power play. Everyone knows the PP filtered through Giroux on the PP. Forsberg much the same on the right half wall. I know it’s too early to ask but on the PP over time, I think everyone is gonna want the puck on Michkov’s stick. |

Saturday was unbelievable. Fedotov Is huge and yet Calgary kept finding ways to put the puck through/past him. Like, does he keep getting on his knees to have a fair height advantage to everyone else on the ice? It was ridiculous. |

Third youngest team in the NHL with 14 skaters that are 25 or younger. They currently have 6 picks in the upcoming draft, and could add more between now and then. Sure sounds like a rebuild to me. The Pack is back!! Congrats to the Beagles for BARELY beating a cupcake at home today. - Phillywhiteout
plus 15 former 1st rd picks. the future is looking great. 15. that is what you call an organization doing a great job of collecting talent.
only a matter of time before they win a cup. |

Is Giroux available? Maybe DB can pick up Giroux to play center for a bag of pucks. Ottawa won’t give him away obviously but he has to be better than the slop we have at center.
I don’t know if the money works. Just a conversation thought. |

30th highest paid goalie in the league, he's being paid as a #1. Ersson is 46th.
The Flyers desperately wanted to make the playoffs last year so they caved to Feds demands. He was bad during the playoff push and hasn't started well this year but the sample size is still small.

We all know his AAV has nothing to do with performance. Feds had a lot of leverage. Can't blame the guy for cashing in. |

Leverage or not, seems like the Flyers caved. Not sure any other team is giving him that contract.
It is a short term deal so won't kill them at the end of the day. |

not saying they should have went 8 years with TK, but watching the first 2 games, I can see a benefit of having TK around for MM, real talent that initially MM can look up to and surpass as he grows and gets older.

Thats the thing. Players in the NHL are extremely skilled even 4th liners. Being big can get you through most leagues but not the NHL. They tried putting a Sumo wrestler in net and the same results. NHL players could Snipe onhim easily. Parros was one of the players
Fedotov does not look positionally sound, he also doesnt have the technique you see from Ersson or Kolosov. He really looks like a guy whos gotten by on just being big and unforunately thats not going to work. Maybe he's still adjusting, hes played what 4 Regular season games games in his career? Im willing to give him some more time to see if he figures it out but Im not optimistic.

Fedotov had all the leverage. If he signed for another team and turns into the next Bob, the Flyers would be rightfully skewered. How could a rebuilding team let a goalie prospect go without a stud in net already? No doubt it is an overpay. The Flyers hedged their bet and met his demands. I have a feeling if Fedotov ever gets put on waivers and goes unclaimed, he goes back to the KHL and not the AHL. Basically, some type of mutual termination. Just my hunch. |
