First! (edit: ooops, Second!)

How much of the power play success is a function of Edmonton's slow start? It's almost as if they went 3 for 3 just to shut us up on the BOD.

And who was Bedard facing off against in these past two games? Not like I got to see the games, because our antenna hasn't picked up any signal yet. Are we supposed to get that converter box, or just wait until they finally get a deal?

You can argue that Bedard's skillset might be better suit for wing, but I don't think his struggles as a 19 year old at the dot should be a determining factor if he were to make the switch.

If winning face-offs is the primary criteria for playing center, the Hawks would need to find 4 new ones. Foligno is the best face-off man right now, although Kurahsev is currently at 51%.

I will happily trade face-off wins for structured defense and any sort of coherent offensive blueprint. They are finally playing as a team and moving in the right direction.

I'd like to see Vlasic and Brodie get more on the same page, and ideally a better option than Foligno for Bedard's line, but compared to the laundry list of needs from last year, I'm happy as a pig in... well... you know.

I thought Donato had been playing well. Also, curious why they are keeping Allan up instead of having Phillips on the big club and Allan playing every night. Maybe they are just expecting an injury to happen on the back end?

I just read that comcast wants to put the new sports channel in its upper tier of packages, meaning we have to pay more. CHSN is trying to keep it in the same package as the old one. It is Comcasts greed that is keeping the Hawks and Bulls from being seen by their customers.

Considering the amount of money I'm saving by getting rid of cable and going with you tube tv, i gladly went out and got a $50 antenna

So I read that Vlasic is better than Jones because he made TJ Brodie look better. Well of course he does because Jones and Brodie have been on the ice together exactly 6 seconds at 5x5

As a matter of fact, Vlasic's numbers are best with Jones than any other defenseman on the Hawks

So are you suggesting they pair up Vlasic and Jones? Or does it upset you that Brodie looks good paired with Vlasic

Agree with you Dots. I save 170 bucks a month with that $50 antenna. The only downside is when I travel or go shopping with family, there will be no app to watch them on although if I go far enough out I might be able to watch on ESPN+.

I don't think Brodie has looked good with anyone, but I agree with you Brodie looks better with Vlasic than the 8 seconds he has spent with Jones.

You don’t think Brodie looked good against Winnipeg and Edmonton? I thought all the defensemen, including Brodie, looked really good the last two games.

The goal for 2024/25 was to implement a more structured team game and have the vets "teach and lead by example" this game. So far it sure appears to be working. Now once you sprinkle in one of the kids into the line up, they hopefully will pick up the structure being taught. This is not a structure that can be taught on the blackboard or I Pad, but has to be learned on the ice and best be taught by VETS. So far, mission accomplished.

I wanna tip my cap to the guys in the last blog who posted some fancies. .. Thank you...... As you guys have shown thru the fancies the Hawks are a good bit on the short side of advanced stats. Bottom 3-4-5 in most possession numbers and 3rd worst in xGF.

As it was last yr the squad is getting damn near elite goaltending but the goalies have not faced fire drills 3-4-5 times a game and that has a lot to do with the influx of not only vet Dmen but forwards too. .... The eye tells us the structure between this yr and last is night and day and without numerous fire drills/odd mans/shooting galleries per game the goalies will have a much easier go this yr.

And, if Soderblom has indeed taken a jump when the inevitable goalie injury happens to Mrazek or Broisset goaltending will be a strength.

But, no matter the fancies a few games in I did not expect the results of the opening road trip so far and they've been exactly what this club needed. All this while the prospects get their reps at all levels but especially the AHL. ......

To be fair I did not see the Edmonton game, but what I have seen and the fancies, seems the fall off he had last year is not an aberration.

The fall off last season was a direct result of a guy of his age playing 21 plus minutes a game. He looked ok until February or so then the bottom fell out and the Leafs were a terrible defensive team and he was one of the better defensive defensemen they had. If he plays 15 to 17 minutes a game hopefully he’s able to hold up over the course of the season.

Let’s wait until about Christmas to start rating the team and the players. It’s way too early to be declaring anyone as bums or superstars.

Everyone looks better with Vlasic. Of course you don't think Brodie has you have to plant your flag on KD doesn't know what he's doing.

You scold me for calling out GMs and their dumb moves, and here we are.

At least I don’t make poop up, you said Vlasic is better than Jones because Brodie looks better playing with Vlasic than Jones. When Brodie snd Jonrs haven’t been together except for 8 seconds.

I also said I liked all the acquisitions this year except the Brodie one. I didn’t like the Perry signing last year nor the Brodie one this year. But IMO KD’s batting average is pretty good.

Sorry I am not a member of the KD can’t do anything wrong cult.

Just saying you bi tch as much a i do but complain when i do it

My mistake i thought Jones and Brodie played more, they kept saying on the telecast how they wanted to split up Brodie and Jones. I guess they were wrong to or LR made those comments to them.

But I'm not wrong about this, Vlasic is better defensively than Seth Jones.
