I really think this is what we are going to see in price points. Every jump of the CAP, salary years for players will jump with it.
50-60 pt players are making 7-8 million now. A solid scoring 2nd line may cost 20+ million off the cap.

Just the point I’m making is how important he is to this teams success. They’re not contenders without him. So it’s kind of silly if Drury is playing hardball is ultimately what I’m saying. Just pay him and move on to laf. They’re the two must signs moving forward and worry about any cap issues later

Once he does get this payday, the pressure on him will be like nothing we’ve ever seen on a single NY Ranger player. Not even Messier would’ve had this pressure

Thats part of the argument. I know the rangers have to and will pay him, but why does he think he is worth $2-$4m more than the next player? I guess leverage and UFA status.

In the last 3 seasons, Igor has 40.5 goals saved above expected in the playoffs in 43 games. Meaning that an average NHL goalie would give up roughly a full extra goal PER GAME in the playoffs than Igor has for us.

The next closest is Bob at 30 GSAx in 53 games.

Over the last 3 years when the games mean the most, Igor has been head and shoulders above his competition and above anybody else on the team in terms of overall contributions.

How you quantify that into $2-4M more than his counterparts, I'm not sure. But he shouldn't be paid all that close to what those other guys are making, because their play isn't all that close to what Igor has delivered for this team time and time again.

As a fan I hope they can lock him up for as little as possible, but there is no doubt in my mind he is worth what he is asking for

Hard to quantify what he’s worth. He’s had best post seasons then most of his regular seasons. Not saying they are bad regular seasons but goalies being paid less have won more vezinas than him. At this point it’s not even about what he’s worth. It’s debatable but the team needs him to win so he probably holds the leverage there

Well there are only 2 active goalies in the NHL with multiple vezinas, so there can only be 2 that have more than him. Hellebuyck and Bob. Bob won in 13 and 17 so not all that recent, and coming off that 2nd one he signed his $10M deal. He's got his cup but from the numbers in my last post, has not been close to as good in the playoffs as Igor.

Hellebuyck only had 1 when he signed his deal, and won his 2nd last year after his deal was signed. He then followed up his Vezina season last year by getting shelled in the playoffs vs the Avs.

At the end of the day the rangers want to compete for a cup and the contract they give Igor will be representative of what he does in the playoffs, not in the regular season, even though his regular seasons have been at the top of the league as well

Hulu feed looked like crap, then the stream stopped and wouldn't reload. then the app logged me out, I couldn't log back in and and now it's back to not loading the stream. Wifi, cellular, or fire stick.. all the same issues

I think the Rangers are a really good team and are playing they way they SHOULD play against lower ranked teams.
Also, I do believe having Chytil back helps balance out 3 scoring lines. Makes it much harder for teams to defend.
